As a doctor, I don't care so much about nurses. They're great. It's the PAs and NPs that know fuck all and think they deserve to do what I get to do. They suck.

Ive never said they save lives but they do passively by doing the mundane shit like giving meds, IVs, cleaning the patients, giving care (also emotional), assisting the doc, etc etc

Nurses in emergency departments, intensive care units, nurses in the military, flight nurses and nurses who work in rural and remote areas save lives all the time. Many nurses can give medications based on protocols and standing orders, they can start IVs, defibrillate, perform CPR and basic life support, sometimes commence administration of resuscitation drugs, and many other things. I'm not a nurse, but I was a paramedic and am still in healthcare.

Med school fag, work as a nurse assistent on the side (not legal to work as a physician as a student and for good reason).
They've cut down on our rotation spots so they can employ us as substitute nurses after degree but before we get our license. Another way to cut costs on physician's salaries, eh?
Also, jaysis the nursing science thing has gotten overblown. They even talk avout being on the patient's side as an 'advocate for the patient' as if physicians weren't. For the most part.

CPR is not the doctors job. During a code the doctor intubates, manages the airway and ventilation. Nurses do everything else, sometimes a nurse takes over the ventilation too.
