Sketching rather than rendering? You mean the faceless mannequin looking proportion thingys? Sorry, I’m very new to art and don’t know the terminology.
But yes, I do need to work on different perspectives. The only head position I’m even slightly good at is looking straight forward

No it's lockdown, social distancing. You understand.
Rendering is when you're actually putting the finished lines and on a drawing. A sketch is when you're doing multiple light lines to find the shape you want.
You want to practice holding the pencil so you put as light as possible of a line to get the general shape you want.
I would suggest finding a video course for drawing, or watch some drawing streams to see their techniques.

Rendering in art is the same as rendering in 3DCG. It's figuring out how light interacts with the forms, materials and colors in your scene. Luckily as an artist you have more freedom in how you set up and express things.
Ah, okay, so I was sort of on the right track. Yeah, I really need to work on sketching, so you’re saying I need to do that before I can start actual drawings? That makes sense. Another artist user recommended I check out sycra on YouTube, and I’ve been watching a ton of his beginners videos and trying to put his methods into practice .
