im a flight attendant, been working nearly non stop

super worried about getting the virus but just kind of playing it risky.
the flights are nearly completely empty, big increase of low-brow customer types. the kind of people that never fly but are doing so now that its affordable.

the rest of the people are business men buying cheap flights to add miles to their airline status

I make medicine (more accurately, active pharmaceutical ingredients)

Getting hazard pay, already making decent money. Been buying truck parts and riding my motorcycle. Want to build a van with new free time. Anyone think this will go one long enough to make it worth it?

if you see how non serious some people take it, id say itll go on for a while. as long as they dont shut down the airlines im golden.

stay safe dude, make that money.

I had 6 months worth of savings + my covid check. First cases in my state they told us we're "essential." Literally make decorative windows and patio doors for rich people's houses. "Essential."

Fuck you, I'm not getting sick and risking my long-term health to make other people rich for $15 bucks an hour. Fuck off.

Your fucking garden window to set potted plants in is not fucking "ESSENTIAL."

My country's military. Its about to get wild.

I walked out. 3 other people had the brains to walk out that same day. I wonder if they're still even open now. I was one of only 3 people at the plant that knew my job, and without the machine I ran, they only have custom-ordered glass to make windows with.

>work for large healthcare org
>working from home the past month

Things are ok I guess. Wish I could go back to the office HQ.

"Tier 1 Critical Infrastructure Worker"

I work in Healthcare IT. I literally have a letter saying the police should provide me an escort if i request it. Work is actually super quiet. because most of the hospital is shut down except for the ICUs.

can you still file for unemploment even though you just walked out voluntarily?

nice trips

why would you need to be escorted?

>can you still file for unemployment

I can file, they'll just deny it though. I might try anyway on the chance that they screw up and give it up me. $600 bucks a week is more than I was making on any non-overtime week. It's worth a shot.

Because he enjoys larping.

>why would you need to be escorted?

Not him, but Frontline nurses and providers need their equipment and computers working, and IT ensures that. If the physician can't access a program he needs before surgery he needs IT to fix it ASAP.

>Work as a Bartender, make ~$60k/yr part-time while going to school
> Pretty happy with this shit
> Bars get shut the fuck down due to plague
> Panic, respond to Facebook friend hiring at a pharmacy
> Realize I have enough saved up to last 3-4 months
> Start working anyway
> Karen after Karen screaming at me over why I won't give them two discounts at the same time.
> "Thanks for working"
> Want to spit in their face but they installed plexiglass at the service counters so I can't.
> Try not to fuck over coworkers cause they're all cool as fuck, working through the next week and I'm done.

I've never regret accepting a job so much. I've never worked retail and this is hell.

Eh, I work at a chemical plant that makes sodium hypochlorite and muriatic acid and pretty much nothing has changed. Still gotta get there by 7, no raise, no hazard pay. Money's money, though I'd rather be home tbh.

I worked customer service for 8 years, b2b. It's not as bad as retail, which I've done too, but you have your fair share of karens as well. Just gotta let it roll of you. Console yourself by continuing to job hunt. Lot of stuff available for a smart guy right now.

Be careful, though. The places that are hiring most desperately are the ones that people said "fuck this" and walked out, so a lot of positions will be utter shit, just like the one you took.

Lots of people quit even at essential jobs and i was a discouraged worker before this. Took the spots of people that quit and now I’m making 11.50 an hour. It isn’t much but god damn it its better than nothing and I can honestly say corona has made my life better

if 11.50 is an upgrade then dude, reach higher.

I love being laid-off! Practically making $20/hr for sitting on my ass and smoking weed

>volunteering to get corona for 11.50 an hour

Godspeed user, you're a braver, or stupider man than I.

protip: It leaves even people that survive it permanently weaken with irreversible lung and other organ damage.

it used to be 0 an hour bro. for 2 years.

Appreciate the advice, still considering if I want to even keep working. Between financial aid kicking in and the stimulus, I might just wait this out on savings.

yeah I have absolutely no savings because I had to use it all just to live for the past couple years so 8 have no choice.
Braver and stupider confirmed, I’m in a high risk zone working grocery and I don’t wear ppe but I desperately needed money

If you can, get the employer to provide any level of PPE.

As a consumer, I want you to at least wear a generic mask to help reduce/prevent transmission to the food.

As an example, rare situation where there's an IT problem in the middle of an active surgery case where I need to physically be there to resolve the issue. Most of the time I can resolve the issue remotely but since I'm on-call a lot of the time I have to come in for some stuff.

My pool thanks you.

It's the Least I can do man.

worked and made tires at Michelin for 13 years
they fired me and i'm unemployed

yikes dude. the Rona got you good

Im a roofer. Work was good for a couple weeks but now it's slow. We had several crews working at hospitals trying to help get them ready for the incoming patients. Well skip forward a week and now i suddenly have a fever. I'm hoping i don't develop the rest of the symptoms but I'm betting that I'm fucked.

Are you really obese, have sleep apnea, or type II diabetes? If not then the worst you will experience is being bedridden for a while.

Roomie and I were exposed at work taking care of a patient. Now were quarantined 2 weeks in our apt without pay.
