An atheist can accept things that there is evidence for. There is not a single shred of evidence for the existence of a god.
Also atheism is NOT the belief that there is no god. It's the rejection of the claim that a god exists.
I don't claim that big foot doesn't exist. However, I'm not convinced that the claim that he does exists warrants belief.

you're thinking of agnosticism.
atheism is rooted in certainty regarding metaphysical concepts. just because it is a certainty in the negative is neither here nor there. such certainty is essentially religious in nature
