But the countries with universal healthcare have responded to Covid better than the U.S. in literally every case. They have equipment, tests, more beds, a far lower infection rate.

No one in my city can get a test because they can only do 200 tests a day in a city of 5 million. You wait in line for 4 hours at the drive thru to be turned away. How is this better? It was shitty before too, but doesn't this kind of prove it?

I'm a contractor like 80 million other Americans. My expenses are well-covered, except health insurance. On the exchanges I would have to cough up 400 dollars a month to get a basic plan that still has a high deductible. I live in a red state that didn't take the subsidies. I pay double in medicare taxes too, which just blows me away. I have to pay double the tax for healthcare, but wait 40 years before I ever get it.

I really don't understand why we have to do it this way. It seems extremely cruel and doesn't give value to anybody except insurance companies, who just push money around and evaluate risk. They don't actually help any sick people. Why should so many people suffer so they can hoard some wealth?

If you live your life like a retard and put higher than average strain on the system because you eat like a walrus or whatever, it should not then be a burden to those that are capable of making healthy decisions.
