I've decided to quit smoking cigarettes for good. However every time I go even a few hours without cigs I get really bad heartburn and/or acid reflux. Is there anyway to get rid of this naturally? It's just unbearable and really annoying. I can't focus on anything it's so bad.

let me tell you something you will never beat it with willpower never ever don't even try you will only fall into depression
You need a strong incentive like a lung cancer, or replace it with something less harmful
I've replaced cocaine with sweets

Despite the bad media coverage and the bad rep, vaping is a good alternative that you can slowly ease off by changing nicotine concentrations. You can also try the more traditional alternatives like the patch.

People quit smoking cigarettes all the fucking time, and most do it before they get sick. What are you talking about?

Vaping is for fags

My father was a pack a day smoker, and tried vaping when it was first invented, before box mods and pod systems, and he hasn't touched a cig since.

It's either look like a fag or get lung cancer and die. I don't know man pretty clear cut to me

It's called withdrawal. It will improve with time but you need the willpower to plow through the unpleasant feelings.

If you think quitting smoking is hard you should try quitting alcohol or harder drugs. You have it easy my man.

Or you could just, I dunno, NOT smoke at all? Why do you HAVE to replace it with vapes?

I'm talking about people who are addicted not occasional smokers and op has symptoms of an addiction, he will always return to it after a week or a month until he gives up. Mark my words op I really wish you could just stop but you can't

Soo this one's difficult. Read about acetylcholine. It's a higher order neuromodulator, and that's what nicotine affects. It affects everything from digestion to sleep to when you take a shit.

But your body produces it naturally when you exhale, in small amounts. If you really want to feel as good when you smoke without the ciggies, you're gonna need to commit to a time when you breathe in and out thru nose multiple times.

Telling someone they have it easy never works. All it does is make them feel shitty for having personal struggles. You may be right, but it doesn't help the dude

I'm not saying it's super hard or harder than those things. I'm just wondering how I can get rid of this heartburn. It's basically the only withdrawal I have.

Okay well I think you're wrong, but we'll see what happens.

You don't have to it just makes the withdrawal and whole process infinitely easier? If OP could just cold turkey quit he wouldn't have come to Yas Forums for advice

I couldn't care less about OP or whatever the fuck. Everyone's got problems, OP is posting about it on the Internet. It is what it is.

Do you happen to have a timeline for how long this could last?

If you don't care why answer? Let people who actually want to help do the talking

But I didn't ask for advice for quitting. I asked how to get rid of the heartburn I'm experiencing from quitting. There''s a clear difference.

Then fuck off if you don't care. Why do you think anybody cares about your worthless opinion?

>I get really bad heartburn and/or acid reflux
That's early signs of cancer. Seek help immediately.

please kys

Good luck with the throat/esophagus cancer then faggot.

You faggots talk about things you know nothing about.
Because an addiction releases a lot dopamine your brain learns it's already too much so it stops releasing it from anything else. After you just quit the addiction you have dopamine shortage and people on dopamine shortage stop thinking like you humans and start thinking like animals and return to the addiction. After a several tries like that the brain is low on dopamine for a long time and you fall into depression.
Listen to people who have went through this or learn the hard way

What does that have to do with replacing cocaine with sweets, as if that's suppose to make any logical sense?

Depending on how long, 3 to 4 weeks. But if you supplement your body's acetylcholine with breathing exercises. Much less. Cut down a bit, and be really mindful when you smoke, do it slowly and savor it.

That does make sense. I usually smoke cigs really fast, like 3-4 mins per cig. Thanks for the insight.

Are you stupid or something. Not only sugar releases dopamine, when you eat it when you had triggers for your addiction the brain learns it's the new trigger for dopamine release and completely forgets about your addiction. Then after sometime you can deal with your new easier addiction with even easier addiction or with willpower

Drink a lot of water.

I found carrots, celery and apples to help during cravings to curb that irritation.

100% this
started smoking at 16
smoked a pack every 1-2 days
throughout the years i tried the patch and i tried gum and i tried cold turkey nothing worked
then vaping was invented when i was around 22
i started with super high nic concentrations so that i couldnt physically smoke cigarettes without getting nauseous
within 2 months i tapered down to 0 nic
after 1 month at 0 nic i put down the vape altogether because vaping for just the sake of vaping is very stupid

Cause I'm quarantined and have literally nothing else to do. Look at your Mr. "I'm going to improve lives on Yas Forums".

Go chase a train head-on

You dick

Most people don't quit vaping after they pick it up. They just end up replacing cigarettes with it.

I dont know user, try smoking a cigarette

Never know, It might stop the hear burn!

>not green texting because of being a newfag

well thats stupid vaping should be used as a way to taper off
>i didnt think it was a story worth green texting fuck you

It is actually you that knows very little, most likely do to the permanent brain damage you caused yourself. I bet there are times when you get frustrated trying to remember how you used to do something or process thoughts.

Be sure you won't return to only one. This is complete shit.
Eat 20% of your normal diet for 1~2 week, it will help for acid reflux AND dependance.
You're on the right way !

My mind is clearer than yours will ever be.
Don't want help fine your choice. But don't cry afterwards that nobody wanted to help you

exactly. i would rather just smoke than vape.

It is stupid but tons of people do it anyway, because they believe vaping is "healthier". Which is a ridiculous excuse because if you really cared you wouldn't smoke at all.

Nah I really do believe this is it. I've been wanting to quit for awhile anyway, but now that I'm at home and never go out I figure I should quit now.

That's why I never switched to vaping

You just kinda bare with it. I vape still, but only 3mg and I haven't smoked since October. Just make sure you have something to replace it with if you want to completely stop. Gum/candy/snacks/tea/coffee etc. You can do it, user.

You won't probably quit smoking like that altogether.
Why dont you try to convert to swedish snus?
It tastes better, more nicotine, no smell, Easy to hide under lip and its easier to quit snusing rather than smoking. Also cheaper.
Do it gradually and you're going to make it.
Godspeed user, godspeed.

Nicotine gum might help with withdrawal. Didn't do much for me, it's working for a coworker

Gl user

It's not the urge to smoke that's bothering me. It's just the acid reflux I'm having a problem with. I actually don't even want to smoke.

>Why dont you try to convert to swedish snus?
Hell fucking no, that shit is even more disgusting than smoking cigs. People still dip tobacco these days?

>believing waping is healthier is stupid

dude, it is healthier and they're trying to beat their cig addiction, so why not get rid of it in tiny steps rather than going through pain like OP is.

Thanks fren

First of all, we don't know for sure what happens to the body after years of vaping. But my point is that using the excuse it's "healthier than smoking" is ridiculous. If you cared that much you wouldn't smoke or vape at all.

If that's the case I would opt for a change in diet or maybe an antacid you can take at regular intervals to coat your stomach. I have a fucked up stomach in general, but it's less of an issu now that I don't smoke combustible and something like chewable tums tablets might help you out. Just don't overdo them or you could get kidney stones.

Read the allen carr book. it worked for me 16 years ago, haven't smoked since.
its easily available at piratey ebook places, you can read it in an afternoon, so no great time investment.

but that's exactly why some people vape - because they care and are trying to not smoke at all

take these for a week.
they are branded as nexium or guardium in yurop, not sure what the murican branding is

This. I mean the lack of long term studies is concerning, but at the very least it can hep you dial down the nic content to the point you won't have issues quitting. I still vape, but not because I need to because I enjoy it. I only vape 3mg where as I used to smoke at least a few packs of spirit blacks a week, usually 3. I know a lot of long term smokers that moved from smoking a pack a day to 0mg vape or quitting all together just by dialing back a little at a time with liquid strengths.

- continue
they just can't do it like OP does, not so fast

This is also good advice. My dad has terrible stomach problems and he buys this stuff in bulk at Sam's.

Don't ever call it quitting. Call it cutting back, get a vape and see how long your pack can last you while substituting the vape. Next try to see how long you can go in between replacing packs, see how long you can get by just carrying a dollar around and buying a smoke off someone. Half the time they won't even take your dollar so it goes further than expected. Eventually you'll get better at this game and sub the vape when you're really craving. This in itself is a huge accomplishment, don't worry about the time frame. I still cave occasionally but consider myself a non smoker. I can have one at any time but I choose not to. It's all in how you frame it. If you try "quitting" and failing you'll want to give up, cause who wants to fail at something that many times? Oh and don't tell people about it. Just keep it to yourself.

Yeah I may buy some on Amazon if it doesn't go away in a few days

You know what's funny, I actually did read that book like 7 years ago and quit for 6 months. But I picked it up again after I broke up with my ex.

If you care about being healthy you wouldn't do it at all. It doesn't make sense. It's like saying I do cocaine because it's not as bad as crack.

If you're only at 3mg why bother at that point? You're like those people who say "i smoke but only like 2-3 a day". Then why even smoke? All you're doing is torturing yourself and going through withdrawals until you have the next one.

No, I am quitting because I really don't want to smoke cigarettes anymore. Not even when I'm drunk.

well maybe the person was a stupid teen and now regrets his life choices but remains addicted, so decides to cut down in cigs and switch to vape instead. They CAN'T just stop smoking, some anons even said why.

If i didn't express myself clearly enough this time i'm calling it bait and leave it.

>Oh and don't tell people about it. Just keep it to yourself.

this is a very important aspect of quitting

That's fine but then they need to be honest and say that. Not use this bullshit excuse that it's healthier, when we don't even know that for a fact.

Cold turkey is the only way user. Tough it out. Remind yourself that it is unhealthy and expensive.

I don't smoke them when I'm drunk. I haven't smoked in months but whatever you clearly missed the point of what I was trying to get across to you. Enjoy your cold turkey and your acid reflux faggot.

fuck all that gum disease and throat lung cancer shit, what about zyn its nicotine salts in a cotton pouch no tobacco

Baking soda neutralizes the ph level of your stomach so just put a little in water and drink that

Because I enjoy it. Also from experience nic withdrawl doesn't happen at that low of a dosage. I go days without vaping sometimes, just because I'm too lazy to go to the store, and it doesn't bother me at all. I mean, I'm not particularly worried about my health and it's something that I feel ads value to my life so I'm not particularly inclined to stop. I do know that I feel 1000x better than I used to smoke though.
