I watched Descent last night, quite good

Hereditary, Midsommar, The VVItch are all none traditional horror films but would definitely recommend giving them a watch.

I would also add The Lighthouse into the mix

Lighthouse was a little bit boring for ma taste, but I will watch Hereditary for sure.

how much did A24 pay you for this post

Irreversible

Not your classic “horror”, more a psychological head fuck.

They told me I could be in Lady Bird 2

Serbian Film fucks with your mind too

say hi to Timothee Chalamet and Lucas Hedges for me if that happens

>American film critic Roger Ebert called Irréversible "a movie so violent and cruel that most people will find it unwatchable".

Sounds good

Irreversible is “kind of like” Serbian Film...in they are both films that make you feel ‘uneasy’.
But irreversible is far more artfully made, with each scene in reverse chronological order - and rather than just “a fucked up thing that happened”, is actually a musing on the linear nature of time, and the inevitability of fate.

I never watched, but now, I'll definetely watch
Thank u

Like the films title - once you watch it, you cannot unwatch it.

Daisy's destruction

We said horror, not porn, Coomer faggot

Gtfo with your filth nigger

I watched "Us" bc RottenTomatoes said it was like, the best movie of 2019.
>Its complete bullshit
tldr dont watch "Us"

FFS

I love horror movies.

But I am a strange one. I often come across them every few months and have a big series binge. For example, i watched all the texas chainsaw massacres in august and then i watched all the nightmare on elm streets including the remake. They're pretty good actually, remember it's not how old the movie is it's all about the quality!!!

Good old 1980s.

Also dont trust rotten tomatoes

Rewatch your childhood tapes, then think about how at that point in time, you could’ve been anything that you wanted to be. You had so much potential and hope. Now...you’re here. Forever. Like me.

It's not that scary, rather depressing bro

>I love horror movies.
>Good old 1980s.

>Thank me later

Hereditary.
I was giving up on the genre, but it was good and fucked up, just the way i like it

Lake Mungo
Shutter (thai)
The Borderlands (Final Prayer)
Kill List
Ju-On

It looks like a sitcom interpretation of The Exorcist bro

Definitely watch creep & creep 2. Actually good found footage films.

I actually liked Us more than Get Out but yeah, RT is a terrible way to guage how good a film is, their metric is awful. The vast majority of film reviews are usually mediocre, but RT only catalogs reviews as "fresh" or "rotten" so anything above a 60/100 on the reviewer's scoring metric counts as positive. Reviews without a score that are in between result in RT staff making their own judgment calls which obviously leads to clear bias; likewise, for big Marvel films critics at the various outlets know that scoring a Disney film below a 60 could result in Disney PR disinviting them from screenings or not providing them with screeners in order for them to get their review published before the film comes out, which keeps most reviewers in check. like this shit is painfully obvious with Disney, look at the RT scores for all of their marvel films and then the RT score for Venom (which Disney had nothing to do with), it's clear how much sway they have over reviewers.

The eye from 2002, is it any good?

Probably why time travel films like Butterfly Effect make me sad

Yea man its actually bretty gud

The Shining
The Thing
Transfiguration
Return of the Living Dead
Evil Dead 2
Halloween
Friday the 13th 6
Nightmare on Elm Street 1,3
Event Horizon
The Changeling
Ringu
Dark Water
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Suspiria
Videodrome
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Psycho
The Blob
Re-Animator
Audition
Midsommar
Exorcist 3
The Fly

Remake of Suspria is pretty good too

Martyrs.
This shit kept me from sleeping the next night

Id also put these there:

Blair Witch Project #1
Paranormal Activity 1
Paranormal Activity 2

The Others by Shyamalan was decent way back when.

Good taste

Also good taste

It's not terribly scary - but I loved the effects in Crimson Peak (Del Toro)

I love horror what can I say

Benefits massively from doing it's own thing stylistically. Would have been a mistake to imitate Argento. That dance scene in the remote is amazing, you'll know which one I mean

The Shining is a must see for any movie lover of any genre. If you haven't seen it you are now obliged to.

Grimm but true

Found footage isn't my favorite subgenre of horror but these are good representations of it. Add Rec, VHS, Grave Encounters, Hell House LLC, Borderlands

Yeah, I know man, Olga's face and body deformation during the scene makes it really remarkable.

Doctor Sleep

This is pretty much the list I was going to make, based user. Event Horizon is actually my favorite movie. The lighting, set design, sound design, and cinematography are spot on.

Fucking love it, would of loved to have seen a director's cut. Heard some of the deleted scenes were horrific. If you're into games, Dead Space borrows heavily from it

Sleepaway camp because fuck you.

(The second one sucks btw)

The end genuinely gives me the creeps. It's the noise man

IT FOLLOWS

....and now I know which game I'll be purchasing next. Thanks for the info!

I've read and seen interviews from P. Anderson about the deleted 'orgy' scene from the other dimension and other stuff. I would like to see the director's cut too. It's a great movie, but it's definitely incomplete.

Shutter was lit af

One of the best modern horrors. With a great Carpenter esque soundtrack

The Decent

Pretty boring list.

OP here, watching Mad Max. Isn't this supposed to be some kind of future post apocalyptic wasteland starring Mel Gibson?

Wicker Man. 1973

For sure. Some genuinely scary scenes in it. Top stuff.

Theres always one

I like found footage...
Didnt like the ones you mentioned, but havent seen Hell House LLC, so Ill watch that one, ty user.

Oops wrong thread.
