Hey Yas Forums, so what's your favorite Final Fantasy?
IX
FF7 and X, X story was good as shit and has a 91% like rating from players so people complaining are kinda retarded
Wait. People are complaining about X?
People were throwing mad shade at X last night, yes. Compared it to 7 in virtually every aspect, just wait
Tactics
Disidia for psp
VI, easily.
Damn.
Like don't get me wrong, I like VII better, but there isn't anything wrong with X.
Btw, fine tastes
VI
9, 7, 10. in that order.
unironically 5
6, 7 and 9 are great too
10 is garbage
4, 6, 9
If you never played VI i feel bad for you son
I have fantasies of fucking the living shit out of aerith again and again for hours til she has my baby.
Really? Why V?
Not hating, it's just not a common pic for favorite
8
Bold choice. It is underrated though
XIV
Sur trece
Why do so many always pick the worst one, when 13 is God Tear level
I like the music, the story isn't tryhard while still being interesting, the setting is pretty nice for an early SNES era game, ditto on the graphics which have this nice feeling of being "between" the complex 16-bit graphics of 6 and the simpler 8-bit mimicry style of the early SNES FF games.
Some of it is obviously nostalgia since 5 was the one I always wanted to play as a kid but never could until I got older and found out about emulation.
The big one on the list is probably the job system which was really cool and innovative for its time, even though it's been picked apart thrice over by this point and everybody knows to go Mime and spam 0 MP magic, !Mix on final boss and !RapidFire but 25 years ago it was the stuff of high fantasy to my child mind.
The first one was pretty good. Didn't much care for it, but it was much better than the 7th one, and those are the only two I played.
On that note, why is this still considered a good game? Bought a ps1 just to play it and it sucks worse than badratz.
mynigga
XII its my childhood
you're still a child
"this guy are sick" that's why
Yeah I bought an atari to play pong, I don't get the hype.
bait
Well that's a piece of history. But there was nothing good or historical about FF7.
This, mine is FF 4 mostly but I did play the original.
Didn't come here to be bitch at by soyboys. Defend your shitty game or fuck off.
everybody knows aeris dies
therefore your premise is invalid
Well a lot of it has to do with nostalgia and how much of a milestone it was in the industry and for JRPGs in general.
As for the merits of the game itself, the materia system was just fun to mix and match with. In a lot of JRPGs you're given paltry bonuses for finding loot on the world map, and VII isn't any different, but finding materia felt more special.
Aerith dying is still a gut punch even to this day for me.
As a bonus, there's not a single character on the roster that I hate. In most other RPGs there's that one character that I absolutely hate and VII just doesn't have that. The closest to a shit character is Cait Sith and that's all before he starts getting real. Then I started taking him seriously and liked the character.
bait
Ive heard 4 and 5 are awesome, never played them though
Damn nigga, gangbanging on the ff thread (13 was trash btw)
>Aerith dying is still a gut punch even to this day for me.
she isn't dying in the (((remake))). They're making AC Sephiroth time-travel back to the beginning of the original events and rewriting everything, one of the consequences is that Aerith never dies and goes into the lifestream to stop him
Yeah I really did like the job class system in V. I did also like the lighthearted tone. The one thing that gets me is the main bad guy's literally named "Exdeath" and it's a tree.
This
Suppose it was just one of those things you have to love to love. Thanks for not just blowing off what I said. Can't say I understand your viewpoint, but I do appreciate you trying to help me understand.
Yeah that part is kind of silly but IMO Exdeath just kind of adds to the charm. My summation of his character is that he's meant to be over-the-top and one-dimensional more or less specifically because the game has a lighter tone to it, especially following the deathfest that was 4.
8, it was my first. So just like 7 fans it has a special place in my heart. Not for being particularly incredible again just like 7, but because it was my first game of that calibur that made me realize how much more video games can be.
IV is the first one that has a legit story to it. V combines the storytelling capability they had in IV and combined it with the job class system of III. It's worth playing. However the best 2D FF is VI. If you've already played VI, it's a tough act to follow.
7
I liked the updated dialogue in the ps1 version of IV. At one point brainwashed Kain basically calls Cecil a faggot
2 and 3 both had legit stories, they just didn't translate over very well early on, especially with hardware limitations preventing them from fully fleshing the story out in English
imo 2's story is very good but the gameplay is painful to the point where I still haven't beaten it
Oh snap. They were so dead set on having someone die in VII back in the day. I wonder if this means someone else is dying?
Hey no worries
8 was my favorite. I liked the music, squalls style and the story. Shit, I remember sitting down and playing that card game for HOURS. Can't say I ever did the same with any other minigame from another series. Not to mention Lionheart is easily the coolest sword and flashiest attack of all the main protagonists.
It's funny how the story gave EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER more back story and personality than the main protagonist though.
Tactics dude by a mile.
Yeah he wasn't really brainwashed brainwashed, Kain is just an insecure faggot himself and he really wants to fuck Rosa but Rosa has eyes only for Cecil's boner
He was being mind controlled from the very beginning of the game, I believe it states that his lust for Rosa and jealousy and seething rage toward his "friend" Cecil made him easy to turn
Yeah, that's fair point. I mean to be fair he duels a turtle. A wise and ancient turtle, but still.
That sound hot.....oh my god
FFXI Chains of Promathia was the best thing ever.
I made relationships I didnt know existed at the age of 12. Made day long parties, grinded with linkshells
Let me rephrase: IV is the first story in which the characters actually feel like characters. II was the first attempt and it falls flat.
I wouldn't bet on it being any of the cast, even Reeve is safe through Cait-Sith
Secretly even though I know all the other changes are going to be on the bad side, I'm really glad they retconned her death because Aerith is waifu
I just thought it was hilarious when he said "That drag suits you" which I knew was not in the SNES release
I don't entirely disagree with you. The game still stays in my mind as memorable but for a lot of the wrong reasons. The forced party members being complete trash and the game turning into you spamming the Fight command for the first 1/3 -2/3rds of it makes it a chog, easy type or no
no it definitely wasn't but the woolsey translation the states got back in the 90s was an ez-type shitfest anyway.
Man I remember back in the day all these tricks and guides on how to somehow resurrect Aerith. People desperately wanted their waifu back.
Hell, I remember back in the day going back to Midgar and seeing her in the church just doing squats or something. Walked up to her and she just disappeared. Spooked my little kid ass.
But that was years ago. Dunno how I feel about her not dying this time around. Huh. It's a bold change, and you're right it probably doesn't bode well, but I want to hope they've got some plan to make it work well. It's VII. It's my baby.
Honestly a lot of it is just seething because people were expecting something more like a remaster with a few changes here and there. If one of the only changes was Aerith not dying, most hardcore fans would be okay with it. As it stands now they're rewriting the plot for 7, all the post-release canon for 7 now pretty much never happened, and they're taking the entire thing in a new direction like none of it even happened.
I really hope it's not a disappointment but deep down I know it probably will be.
you CAN get Aeris back in the party, via GameShark and the Debug Room.
he meant a valid, legit in-game method the devs intended for people to find
there isn't one, just clues that they originally meant for you to get her back anyway
Likewise, I don't entirely disagree with you. See I liked the forced party members because it was all predicated on everyone dying. That was ballsy... until it was revealed no one died except old man Tellah, but hey. Like father like daughter, eh?
Yeah, Edward was annoying but you only dealt with him for like a couple dungeons and he was gone. Cid was also pretty meh.
Yeah. A lot of use of the Fight command. IV was my first, and I like it, but it's rough around the edges for sure.
Yes. Forget all the other FF's, X is overhyped as fuck, and a lot of it is the fact is was the first truly modern FF.
The combat system is awesome, the story is dogshit.
VII and Tactics
That spoony bard
Son of a submariner!
A-fucking-men Yas Forumsrother.VIII is fucking amazing. XV, also absolutely incredible. I am going to shit on X, though. Story was great, but it's a fucking cutscene every 3 minutes, it gets old real fast.
Little off topic, but is the Mana series worth time? I wanna check out the new trials of mana game but have no knowledge of the series
I mean, yeah. When I first heard about the buzz surrounding VII I kind of figured it was just a remaster too. I was fucking pumped when I heard they were remaking the game. I wasn't pumped when I heard they were releasing them in episodes/chunks though. I can't deal with cliffhangers, even though I know (or I guess what I thought I'd know) what was going to happen next. Was debating between buying it day 1 or waiting for it to all come out so I can just shoot through it all.
I got loyalty to VII. All the other games surrounding it as sequels and prequels and the such? Eh. I saw Advent Children and I liked the graphics but I can't remember what happened. I saw a friend of mine play through Dirge. It looked alright back then, but I remember next to nothing about it other than Vincent was the lead.
I mean I spent hundreds of hours in VII. Source farming. W-Item elixir farming. Multiple mastered Knights of the Round.
Nothing else really scratched the itch I guess.
Only one I ever played was Legend of Mana, and it was fun enough albeit really easy. People swear by Secret of Mana though.
Mana series is hit or miss imo
I liked the 1st
