What do you think about manual transmissions?
What do you think about manual transmissions?
Yes.
pointless on a daily driver. whole lot of fun on the track though.
sí
They are fun and it's a different driving experience, but they are obsolete, they really cannot do anything better than an automatic at this point
Going for a smooth peaceful ride at night or ripping it to the redline or going into some technical roads, that is where it all comes to sense. Manual transmissions are meant to enjoy
No good for retard mericans
Easier to fix, less expensive than replacing an automatic. Possibly some fuel economy advantages in some cases.
best theft deterrent there is
I like them they give my add mind something to sperg out on while driving
Fun. Can be a pain in the ass though but worth it.
Useless after the 1980's. Modern "manual" is just an electric stick control on an automatic transmission.
Fucking hell i never thought of this. I think that’s why I like it so much.
>pointless on a daily driver
Explain.
Automatic transmissions have improved throughout the years, but nothing beats the feel of good ol 3 pedals to the floor
Driving it doesn't come automatic for some people hence not a lot of car is stick shift and not many people know how to operate it.
On commercial transport trucks yes, but otherwise it's a work of hydraulics and clutches
paddles > stick (up/down) > stick (fully manual)
Think it’s hilarious that Americans make such a big deal of being able to drive a manual when teenagers master that shit everywhere else.
Prior to dual clutch paddle shifting manual was the only real way to go to be engaged in your driving and get those quick off the line shifts. Slowly manual is dying but at the same point those older manual cars are going up in value it use to be the other way around.
It's like A/C in the car. I regret not having it like 3-4 times a year, otherwise I'm very fine with the windows down
are u fucking retarded? A manual transmission is the same as any other manual trans from 80's or earlier. Still have the same components. They aren't dual clutch transmissions.
Paddles are great on the track but absolutely fucking useless in slow moving traffic or while parking.
Fuck off gaiboi
Maybe in the last 5 years or so but certainly not from the 1980s.
I serviced a 2008 Mazda 3 last week and it's definitely a "proper" manual.
Shouldn't be that funny, everyone worldwide knows Americans are the dumbest population.
Yeah totally.
Most euro automakers are stopping production of manual cars cause they don't do well in the North American market. Which makes me sad doesn't help most American cars don't even have the manual option even if you option the car yourself.
ive got a strong opinion on this however to keep it short. If youre not into cars, i dont care what you drive however if you are into cars and buy something like a mustang, it has to be a manual. Any car guy with a sports car should drive manual unless its like a super car such as a McLaren.
There is a reason why in very cold and snowy countries automatic sux.
Agreed. Optimally, full auto for traffic, and paddles/stick for track.
Auto is better for a daily driver.
But I would never give up manual and get an auto on my motorcycle. I would refuse to even get the clutchless quickshifter style
Americans are weird. They chop their babies foreskin and they can't be bothered to give a fuck about learning a relatively rewarding new skill
obsolete in what way? for an average commute i would agree but in any race setting or technical drive scenario you would always choose manual, making them not obsolete.
sounds shifty to me
Majority of paddle shift cars also have automatic
Yes you will see the manual aspect reflect in price especially if its a super nice car if it's not manual it will still be marginally cheaper.
Ditto. I often see a neat looking car, more more or less tastefully modified and when I peak at the windows and see P-R-N-D-L I'm like
ya this is a conversation about manual transmission, why are paddles even mentioned? there is no manual clutch involved, making it an automatic transmission.
Not as quickly off the line especially if its not a dual clutch you could potentially blow up your transmission. Dual clutch is the only thing that gives manual a run for its money avoiding clutch replacement fees and having faster shifts.
I like to slide the shifter in my rectum and shift accordingly, gives driving a new experience.
I like it
The majority of supercars don’t have manuals because the engineering that would need to go into making a manual gearbox that could efficiently handle the power without breaking is way too much effort.
That’s why Aston Martin still offers a manual option where they can because they don’t give a shit about reliability.
*edit*
paddles > stick (up/down) > full auto > stick (full manual)
A good daily driver should be able to do Paddles for track, full auto for traffic, stick (up/down) for either or.
the bongs like em because their backward faggot country isnt developed enough for the superior automatic transmissions of the america. plus they cost more so the poors cant afford such luxury so act smug because they think needing to do more to do a simple task is somehow impressive.
>nut gud 4 daylie drivur
Lazy braindead faggots who see driving as a chore
>That’s why Aston Martin still offers a manual option where they can because they don’t give a shit about reliability.
True especially when your spending that type of money back when super cars where gated dual clutch was still in its infancy but at the same point if your that rich they should figure out a manual option if the buyer options it that way.
Bought my first automatic last year, I'm never going back to manual.
Natural.
says the faggot who never had to drive in a 1st would country with actual traffic
They're great unless you live in an area with a lot of hills and heavy traffic.
Leave your keys in your manual and give me your exact location so I can come steal your fucking car you stupid nigger.
people who drive manual are the most annoying people in the world. they act like its soooo hard and theyre sooo smart for figuring it out. usually its boomers who dont even understand how blinkers work who say shit like "millennial anthi theft device hur hur". that said, i like manuals, theyre fun.
be my guest fag
while you're being arrested, I'll be fucking your mom
I don't think much of either. I get in and go. One car's auto, the other a stick. When I replace it, I will get another stick. When I replace the automatic, it'll probably be with another automatic.
What a weird post.
They are great on farm tractors.
Proper stick shift is awesome, I get a better feel for the car on the road or in corners, I can also drop it in neutral on a shitty day on i35 (major north/south road in USA) and just roll down a hill a little every time traffic moves 3 feet.
Also fuck off with your up/down shit, use a fucking proper stick or get paddles like a sports car.
Just another type of transmission that some cringelords turn into part of their identity
>t. 18 year old
