Was this a felony stop prior to the guy pulling a gun? Legit serious because the default for civilians is only pull a gun if there is an imminent threat of serious injury or death, or to stop commission of a violent felony. Apparently the only justification I can find is that the guy "was known to carry a handgun",
Imagine if every traffic stop you encountered started with the police pulling guns on you because they ran your plates before hand to see the car was registered to a CCW permit holder.
