I do have a technical background because of my job. But I didn't have any knowldege about 3d stuff. I bearly knew what a texture is when I began. The rest were learning by doing. To be hones the images I created the first one or two years where pretty shitty. But I feel like with every set I render I get a little bit better.

The hardest part isnt realy the technical stuff its more like how do porpotions look right, how big or small should a nose be to make a character look "realistic/good". In which angle should the left arme be compared to the neck and so on.

There is just no need for photoshop, I knew my workflows in gimp and its the right tool for the job.
Photosthop is more powerful without any doubt but I just don't need that power.
