Hey anons. Actual question seeking general advisal here. My teeth basically look like this. I've spent the last 10 years drinking sugary drinks and neglecting my teeth. I know this was a major mistake. I fucked up, and I made very poor decisions. I'm expecting that I have potentially ruined a part of my body, permanently. I'm 30 years old and recently broke a 10 year addiction to MMOs and have gotten a job at a fast food joint making a couple bucks above minimum wage. My teeth are socially debilitating. It's very hard to talk to people, especially if they're shorter than me. Pronouncing Fs and V's are particularly difficult. I want to get my teeth fixed, but I don't really know how. I don't expect a miracle. But any advice or encouragement would be appreciated. What do I do anons?
Hey anons. Actual question seeking general advisal here. My teeth basically look like this...
Obviously start flossing and brushing.
the only thing you can do is go down and visit Joe Maldonado at the Grady County Jail in Oklahoma and hope that he takes you in as his 4th toothless gay lover
Yeah, I've begun doing so. Thankfully, no blood in doing so.
Hey man, if he'd fix my teeth....
You're going to be paying so much out the ass for professional dental help, which is precisely what you're going to need.
I'd even go so far as to suggest getting a loan for the dental work while working the fast food place because getting that shit taken care of will likely open the door for far more lucrative jobs. Probably be better off in the long run.
Also if that's really how your teeth are looking, you're risking a lot in oral infections fucking with you if you don't get it taken care of sooner rather than later.
I actually made the mistake of trying to eat a very tough steak recently. Spent 4 days taking maximum dosage per day tylenol and advil trying to reduce the pain. Was pulsing with pain every heart beat. Was horrible.
Thanks user, honestly. I'm completely at a loss here. I don't know where to start.
look into a local dental college. they need guinea pigs. If you live in the south, mexico.
I live in Texas, and I've heard people talk about dental colleges. I mean, I'm not even opposed to full dentures. But how hard is it to get into a program like that?
Gum disease leads to Alzheimer's, my advice wont matter to you if you're just going to forget.
How much out the ass are we talking? 5, 10, 30, 50 grand?
The thing is, other than a tooth ache from eating a very tough steak. I have absolutely ZERO PAIN. Looking at my mouth, I'd expect constant debilitating pain. But there's none.
A bridge if you got a few healthy teeth left is perhaps something you should look into. Implants would be optimal obviously, but it's very pricey. You're looking at extracting most of your teeth if pic related is accurate; no saving that.
What user above said as well - start brushing and practice oral hygiene! It will buy you time if nothing else and spare you from potentionally painful infections.
Are you in California? If you are you can quit your job and apply for free Medi-cal. Since you'll be unemployed you'll qualify. Free dental with medi-cal. They'll fix whatever you got left and offer services for the rest. If you're not in California you can apply to your state's equivalent. I believe it's called Medicaid everywhere else.
Contrary to popular belief there is free healthcare in the states. You just have to be poor to qualify.
a quick google search for full dental implant (remove all current teeth for a set of fake ones) costs on average 34 grand
2 packs of ramen bitch ain't even worth half a chewport
eat a gun?
Yeah, like i said here No pain, other than eating a very tough steak recently inducing a few days of very bad pain in one of my molars. I'm surprised, honestly.
Aye, that's what I figured upon doing so. Was just curios of user's input.
This is Yas Forums, nobody here has a clue. If your teeth are that bad though they'll probably just salvage a few teeth to use as anchor points for dentures.
Well, I'm in TX and make like 200 bucks a week working fast food. I know there are people that have it a lot worse than me though. I just want to be able to function. I'm honestly at a loss of what to do.
Cool, cool. That's what I figured, thx user.
Ehh nah man. I enjoy too many things. Plus, that's too much effort.
Any more talk / advice?
Pretty incredible and lucky! There are a lot options you can choose from. If I were you, I'd go for implants. 1 or 2 at the time. Saving up for as many possible. Full dentures are trash and can leave you with boneloss in the jaw eventually. Seeing as you are not in pain atm, take care of what you have left and start replacing your front teeth and work your way back.
My father got a full replacement a few years ago and legit it can be like 2k a tooth. But thats normally for people only doing a couple. I'm sure you could find some full replacement deals around the 25-40k.
You might want to think about non permanent dentures for the time being. Should only be a couple thousand for the dentures themselves, but you are going to need more work done. Just keep your gums healthy because apparently they have to be healthy enough for the transplant to work.
well we need a real picture to assess the severity of your predicament
just be sure to take care of your body from now on user, if your teeth are in such bad shape then I'm assuming the rest of your body isn't in top condition either. Limit your sugar intake, drink water, get a gym membership, shower every day, etc. Don't neglect your body to the point where it gets fucked up permanently
Texas has Medicaid. Apply for it. Since you make very little you might qualify without having to quit your job.
Yeah, I thought about it. But honestly. I know this place too well.
Actually. I'm too bad off. Maybe like only like 15% above my BMI. It's just my teeth.
Thanks user. I'll look into that. Already am, actually.
^Not too bad off. Sorry, mistake there.
Thanks for the input. Now I have a reference point.
is it very close to the picture given?
Mine were really bad for years. Thankfully I was able to get some state assistance because my state has a robust insurance exchange. You'd be surprised how many teeth they'll be able to save. It took about a year to get $16,000 of work done, none of which I had to pay out of pocket for. Good luck, user. It sucks, but it worth getting it fixed in the end.
Yes, maybe add like 15% more on the top teeth and that's me. Also, mine are not as concaved. Imagine a full grown adult male's teeth, but like 12 of them on the top / bottom are basically gone 50%to 75% to the gumline.
How did those dental procedures work? We're you out of commission for any long amount of time? I can't really afford to miss work for a prolonged period of time. I'd be willing to go to work with gauze, or headgear or anything like that. But Idk how it all works.
They can't do individual surgeries like that in a mouth full of rot and bacteria. They pull teeth.Fill them. It gets worse before it starts to look better.
I'm wiling to put up with that, as long as I'm not so fucked I can't go to work.
As a 33 year old who spent the majority of my life not brushing and chugging pop like it was gods gift to humans, you're full of shit. My teeth are bad but that's straight nightmare fuel. At any rate, hope you have good credit cause you're about to spend like 8 grand getting teeth pulled and dentures made.
They aren't fun but you can still work. The worst were the wisdom tooth extractions, but you can still work the next day.
Thanks for the input user.
Different people are more prone to dental disease and tooth decay. So take your single anecdotal story about your experience and shove it up your ass. You have no idea what you are talking about.
you are fucked user
Ah ok. I don't know. Are you "hospitalized" for a long period of time?
If your teeth honestly look like that, you're in for a wild financial ride. Upwards of 20-grand I'd say.
Cut out all sugary shit, hydrate properly, floss, brush, and throw in some mouthwash because why not. Flossing and brushing are more important though, don't let mouthwash give you a false sense of security. It does NOT replace the other two in any sense.
Other anons said look into medicaid in Texas. That's good advice.
One question: Do you have any abnormal bumps or spots on your gums? Google "periapical abscess formation" and "periodontal abscess formation" and see if anything looks familiar, no matter how mild. In the previous post where you said you ate steak and had debilitating pain, I'm curious what the exact cause is. Hoping it's not bacterial.
You say that as though anybody here gives a flying fuck about who you are. All these anons replying to you are trying to do you a favor and give you advice, not fuck up your pathetic new fast food job. We're just curious the actual extent because the picture you posted is pretty extreme and I don't know if I believe yours are that bad. I mean you're so retarded you got addicted to MMO's, clearly your own personal judgement isn't a good source.
have a look at a medical holiday. do your research go to a country where your money is worth way more, after all the shit that's going on now has finished.
Fuck no. I went into a dental surgeon, they did all my extractions in an hour or two, then I went and walked to a bus with my mouth packed full of gauze. If I had smiled it probably would have been like on Fight Club where he grins and blood gushes everywhere.
OP i hope to god that pic isnt related
Mostly for myself, because my own teeth bleed when i brush and if yours dont im doing something fucking wrong
For $20, I'll remove whats left of em with a claw hammer, screwdriver, and pliers. Then drive you down to the nearest funeral parlor where you can sift through a box of dentures and find a pair that sorta fits right.
My teeth were nowhere near that bad but my front 2 middle top teeth were missing about 3mm from young neglect and grinding. Got them capped and fixed them. Yours if like the picture may be beneficial to have them all pulled for cost. And put wjat money you have for a good set of dentures. My mate is a dental technician and makes dentures and a few grand you get a good set. They aren't the most comfortable things and don't expect them to perform just like teeth, but they're probably better than your current situation.
This isn't a bad idea, OP. You could easily hop the boarder since you live in TX if you can't get Medicaid to help you.
Nope, no abnormal bumps at ALL honestly. I'm very surprised. I started brushing, flossing, mouthwashing regularly last week.
It can run up to 60k. Google it. It will take a while to make the teeth or some shit so don’t go to Mexico and get it done in 1 session or you will die from an infection. You can go to dental schools and they’ll do work and pay you for it during exams.
Thanks for the advice user.
And hopefully you can get a partial, OP. They work way better than full dentures because the remaining teeth help keep them in place and more stable. Either way it will take you 1 to 3 months to fully get used to talking and eating with them.
Honestly, mine don't.
Honestly, that sound's pretty good compared to what I've been through recently. Take care of your teeth user.
Heya, been a dentist for 5 years. Assuming your case is just like the picture, your best bet would be an all-on-four implant surgery. It is not cheap, so what you can do while you save up is to have eberything removed and wear removable prosthetics (cheaper but way more uncomfortable. A good solution for aethetics and social settings.) Some clinics,at least in my country, have an option of splitting the cost over 36 months. My advice is to get estimates and ask around clinics and see which is better for you.
The surgery itself isnt painful, the post-op can range from "im a little sore" to "i've been punched repeatedly in the face", depending on how your body takes it. In the long term though, it is a permanent, fixed solution, and can even save you money from constant root canals and crowns. Best of luck!
Ahh kk, thanks user.
