I feel like most people who support communism would hate communism if they lived under it.
Every communist nation is very controlling and their people generally live in conditions comparable to capitalist poverty. Every implementation of communism I know of has been authoritarian, and entailed mass corruption (USSR and China for example).
Its just not very compatible with human nature, the world isn't fair. I think maybe some sort of capitalism that borrows some notes from socialism, welfare and healthcare - like what a lot of Scandinavian countries are doing - is the best I can imagine, IDEALLY some sort of universal basic income to live on, then you can work if you want anything more than that.
But even that is probably ridiculously difficult to economically implement.

Look man, if it comes down to it, that landlord has to pay his mortgage, and don't think for a second he'll hesitate to evict you for it. Even if you decide not to pay, the best case you can hope for is that the landlord loses his property to the bank before they can kick you out, and then the bank will just evict you. You're going to ruin your credit and damn well deserve it.

The bank doesn't have to pay upkeep on anything while mortgage is frozen. Payment is delayed, but during the delay the bank isn't actively losing money.

Rent is different. The landlord still has to pay maintenance and all assorted costs with the building while he's not being paid, he can't just not do maintenance for a month unless he wants the building to degrade and end up paying even more down the line anyways.
