Also realistic looking background is not ok on an anime picture, so I have to see what can I do about that while also have to keep in mind I have to look on how to generate some ligting effects for the hologram kitten. I can't say it's hard... but it's extremely tedious and requires a lot of backtracking... But only this pic and one more are hard to do since I need to find a background and integrate it, the rest I have are just colorization, and making a palette of original eris colors from the anime is helping a lot and I'm not flying blind.
Also, tbh I have no idea. I found them on some obscure japanese imageboard through yandex. From what I know the original Cat Planet Cuties manga has quite a weird art style, so I believe these are something fanmade.
Since I started this edit, I've got through half a pack of cigs lol.

Checking the time now, i'm 6.5hrs into editing.
It does, I'll post a pic from what I know is official manga, and I have not edited in any way (because usually I edit everything).
Time consuming, yes, because the backtracking is a pain to do... pic related, this is the level of individual layer backtrack corrections, but I'm reaching the end... almost...
All I need to do is check the integration, effect the bg, add light effect for hologram and do the final composition corrections and equalize the colors. May sound complicated, but it's just a few clicks...

Of course it's bound to be difficult at first. I recommend you do your own research into techniques and what not if you're interested. It might be a steep hill when it comes to learning but nobody is born being a master of anything.

If I use >30 layers, indeed I go into folders too, but usually I don't do that unless graphic design like box art, interfaces for software, etc, and those usually imply multiple file export, not a single file.
Also rarely I save the PSD file... but will I regret this time? I don't know... It's looking fine to me... but I have to keep in mind that even tho I work with a large designers display (42 inches, trucolor ips) my eyes are starting to hurt and I may miss details... Idk... I'll just yolo it.
