The market regulating itself would look like Walmart offering their own, independent, unregulated walk-in tests for $20, which they'd be doing tomorrow if not for the FDA. It's not real capitalism if the FDA regulators have to give you permission to put your product on the market, because those regulators are in the pocket of the established healthcare players who conspire to squeeze out everyone else through draconian regulations. They use safety as an excuse, the real purpose is to protect the profits of the healthcare industry.
I like capitalism and don't like communism, but the cronyist regulated capitalism we have now is the worst of both worlds.

It might be a dumb take but I think that the fact that so many journalists use statements such as "a poll shows", "scientists claim" and "researchers found out" to support their claims without giving a single fuck about the validity of their source is the reason why there are so many sience-deniers around.
We're so bombarded with contradicting information coming from supposed scientists that some people just give up because for every fucker in a labcoat stating an opinion there's 10 others ready to state the opposite.

The reason to have rights isn't that all uses of them are good, it's that no central authority can ever be trusted to have the power to make judgments on when the rights shouldn't apply.
They might ban swastikas and yelling Nigger in the street today and that would be okay, but what if the administration tomorrow decided you should get jail time for microaggressions or misgendering someone? Or what if they used logical gymnastics to ban any speech endorsing policies they didn't like? How about this: "Without universal healthcare, blacks receive less care than whites due to socioeconomic inequalities, therefore any position other than supporting universal healthcare is racist, therefore any speech arguing against universal healthcare is hate speech and should be punished by jail"?
No one can be trusted with the power to regulate speech.
