How fucked is the US? Im watching the death toll climb.. is this going to get worse or is there any hope for a different outcome? No bait no troll, just honest concern for my southern neighbours.

Round 1 about 10,000 people will be ready for when when it comes back in the fall

I'm far more worried about a mutation of this 1 if a mutation happens were all screwed

The US is handling wuhan virus about as well to better than other parts of the world right now. The virus itself isn't that deadly. It's just really virulent and the main concern is not clusterfucking the healthcare system by everyone rushing in at once. However the virus is so virulent that it is for all intents and purposes an inevitability that everyone is going to contract it.

Unless a mutant comes about that is milder or a vaccine is created, produced, and administered... wuhan virus is going to be cyclical. We'll have wuhan virus season along side flu season and shit.

Dubs speak the truth. Punchline is, ~90% of Americans don't fucking understand this and make the spread all the worse by not staying at home.

Best bet catch the damn virus build up natural immunity so you don't have to worry about it all the hiding aint helping

Oh, fucking tell me about it.
Day 1 of the social distancing announcement and I take a walk for food and everyone and their fucking dog is out for a casual walk.

Ehh, I'd try real hard not to get sick in NY right now, I don't think anywhere else is close to overwhelmed

Shit's just starting. Cities are getting hit hard, but they are full of people,so that is to be expected. Wait a few weeks, and it'll be hitting shitkicker country, where "muh freedums" means they get to die at home since all the hospitals will be full of the first round of infected.

What do you think the over under is on when they declare martial law

Yep. Corona-chan is a comin. Just a matter of time.

My county has 'stay at home' order. I work with a hardware chain, so some of what we sell is considered essential, so I can still work. I handle lawn and garden and after this week, I've lost all faith in people. Literal pants on head retarded fuckers coming into my store to buy mulch, tools and plants like there's no tomorrow. It astounds me. You have the resources to be able to stay in for two weeks, so instead you come here because you're bored and can't stand having to be at home?

We deserve this.

If they were going to do it NYC would be the first. The fact they haven't? Likely they ain't gonna.

Doubt they would do this country wide. Maybe a few small areas at worst but not real martial law. Just the guard to help with logistics. Also if it was real martial law at this point I'd rather the military fucking kick trump to the curb. At least maybe they know how to delegate shit instead of pick fights with governors cause they don't Dear Leader enough

Yeah, a lot of people aren't taking it seriously enough.

Yeah, exactly. People are majorly overreacting thanks to the irresponsible media.

But I would add that no I don't want this to happen cause it would end the country. The military is smart enough to know they don't want to run the country

Honestly, anyone listening to the mainstream media and not taking it with a grain of salt deserves what they get.

Overreacting would be staying at home, but not many are doing that now, are they. US doesn't give a single fuck.

We bought plants for our yard so it gave us something to do at home. The wife started up a small herb garden to give her and the kids something at home to focus on.

Carry on user. Your safe for a few weeks in your flyover country. But shes coming. If you get it better hope you have no underlying conditions...even ones you don't know about. She'll know. Corona-chan knows.

>It gave us something to do at home.

I can't tell if this is a troll. Maybe I'm too tired.

theatlantic.com/family/archive/2020/03/coronavirus-social-distancing-over-back-to-normal/608752/?utm_source=pocket-newtab

I am gonna do this too. It's still just the start of slightly better weather in ohio for me but it will be good for the kids. My kids would rather just be on the ps4 or phone all day when they don't have online class. Be good to get them outside for this instead of just walks

Think multiple Italies

It’s helped. The wife has something to add to/change her routine a bit, and the kids like the excuse to play with the hose. It’s hot as hell here though.

Ah. We won't see hot weather till June really. No plants to buy right now and too early for pots even. At least my kids are old enough to be independent. Can't imagine having little kids in the house screaming all day. That would suck

Some days are better than others, that’s for sure. Our youngest isn’t school age yet so this is just more of the same for him.

dont you think its a little weird that the number keeps going up but you dont know anyone whos sick or dying. that no names or pictures are attatched the the "deaths" and that I STILL HAVE TO FUCKING GO TO WORK?!

Imagine falling for a HOAX

I know someone who knows someone who has. The circle tightens.

Soon I'll just know someone who has.

Hate to disagree with dubs but there's no reason it would be seasonal. If it's as infecting as everyone says then the majority of people will have had it within the year.

It will become the next chicken pox, everyone gets it when they're young and there's no issue.

its not bad

This is straight up ignorant.

In a month many hospitals will be overrun with Covid patients. Then people they could have saved will die. And people with other problems like gunshot wounds, or injuries from car accidents, or heart attacks, or fucking anything else will die too because there will be no one to care for them.

If the virus infects 40-80% of the population as some models have laid out, with a 3% mortality rate, that's between 3,960,000 and 7,920,000 people dead. But since all the other people I said will be shit outta luck when the hospitals are full, expect more than that.

Very true. The mainstream media can't be trusted. They have an agenda, and keeping Americans informed and educated with objective reporting isn't part of it.

>baseless predictions

it's going to be fine it's just the flu bro

Remember that in a year. If you're not dead, we'll see who was right.

Remember it, in two weeks when your faggot ass is still lying and we're outside and living our lives

Did you know 900 people died in Italy today? That's more people dying in a single country in a single day ever. Even during all the wars and everything. Think about that for a second.

fake news, the other countries numbers are fake and so are ours

It's like you guys can't use google.

I never use google. I refuse to give that company anything, even my search. I have them blocked with a script.

They don't read user. And anything that doesn't fit into their worldview gets discarded.

>irresponsible media.
how has the media been irresponsible exactly?
I haven't seen any doomsday projections by Fox or CNN, just people you to stay inside.
The death rates haven't been misreported at all.
The media coverage is the main reason why institutions like colleges, etc began closing down, which prompted the government to act.

The only media thats been "irresponsible" are small time podcasters and commentators that have made clickbait doomsday headlines.

That's a hell of an assumption. Why don't you tell what "their worldview" is. All of them.

Viruses generally migrate to become less lethal - it’s not in their interests to kill their hosts.

Uh, no it's not. And not even close. 27,000 French soldiers died in Rossignal in one day in WWI. 15,000 English soldiers died fighting Napoleon at Waterloo. 45,000 Russian soldiers under Tsar Alexander died in one day fighting Napoleon. I could go on...

>If the virus infects 40-80% of the population as some models have laid out
no legitimate models have those numbers. Arithmetic models with no basis in actual transmission rates are not usefull and actual epidemiologists shun them
>3% mortality rate
the mortality rate is much lower than 3%. Its likely less than 1%

The US absolutely has responded in a very similar way to most countries and actually acted before many.

Actually the Oxford model suggests that 40% if Britain already has the virus. And that only less than 1% need the hospital and something like 0.05% will die

It's the tone and the hype and the constant "death tickers" scrolling across the screen like NFL scores. They push that agenda while under reporting the fact that survival rates remain very high and most hospitals don't look like they're getting overrun. It's sensationalism and it's irresponsible. It feeds into panic when the reality is that common sense, simple precautions and typical measures you would normally take if you contracted the flu will suffice for the vast majority of people.

They're offering $5,600 to nurses form out of state to come work the ICU wings.

Generally right wing which is ok but also reflexively anti anything resembling conventional knowledge. That's cool for your garden variety culture war debate, but not useful during a pandemic.

A week

"Pandemic" a hoax is a "pandemic"

900 people died total, not just from corona, which is less people dying per day than the summer heat wave of 2011 and pretty much on par with their usual mortality rate
>Even during all the wars and everything.
blatantly false

Thanks for proving my point

>under-report survival rates
what? they report the figures every time it comes on the news.
The news is not being irresponsible, people are just overreacting.
Is the news irresponsible when they say there is going to be a winter storm? and then everyone goes out of their minds and starts buying up all the bottled water and road salt?
No.
The news is literally just reporting the facts. People are ignorant, the news can't change that.
If they took the time to explain the context of the numbers, no one would pay attention because the public can't do nuance.

Actually yes, they often are irresponsible when discussing winter storms. Once again, they love their sensationalism. How many times have we seen them send correspondents into blizzards, hurricanes, and floods and we watch while they stand there getting buffeted by the weather? Or, conversely, they tell us that that we're due for a foot of snow and we should hunker down and they show people pouring into supermarkets to stock up on food and then when the storm arrives, we get an inch or two. And they kind of shrug and say, "whoops, looks like this one passed us by."

This is a similar mentality on a greater scale. I'm not saying they shouldn't report deaths. I'm saying they should put it in perspective by providing us with the full picture. And then they compound the problem by making it seem like this country is doing a poor job handling a situation that has very few precedents in history. They tell us Canada is doing much better at testing and at handling their cases. Shocking, considering we have almost ten times the population that they do and a much more frenetic tourism industry. They tell us China has turned the curve and make it seem like we're failing because we supposedly have more cases. China, the same country that started this. The same country that has lied about the numbers of people murdered in Tiananmen Square for decades? The same country that expelled foreign journalists so we have no idea how accurate their numbers really are?

Too many networks are driven by their hatred of this administration. You want to hate Trump, fine. But don't create hysteria and conflate a situation to the detriment of the American people just because you don't like the guy in office. It's shocking to me how a situation like this should unite the country but keeps driving it apart.

I love how no one replied to this

dumbass

Go check out the trap porn, user. Seems more your speed.

Look people hated bush. I know I did. But once those towers came down I was like fuck it. Roll with the pres you got. I supported going into afgan but he fucked us with Iraq yeah. Trump on the other hand is actively dividing the country from the get go. All the bullshit about covid is a dem hoax blah blah. Wasted 6 weeks lead time. Fighting with various governors. And still acting like people screaming at him to not go against healthcare experts and reopen the country are just trying to hurt his reelection. It's just sad and ignorant.

hopefuly it'll drop off as the global population gets around 500,000,000.
