I just found out I live in a corona virus "hotspot", and I do have a sore throat and slight headache. Am I fucked right now? I haven't left my house for anything except last monday to buy alcohol and to smoke cigarettes, and that's only late at night when no one is out there.

My grandpa died in hospital yesterday
Symptoms can lie dormant for 14 days. Did you mean this past Monday or Monday of last week? When did you start to feel sick
My buddy’s sister was sick when I was at his place the other day, same symptoms you have and she’s better now. He’s gotten sick as well but he’s also starting to feel better. It’s flu season anyways (at least where I am) right now.
Good. Hahaha old weak flesh.
Of corona virus?
Last monday, and I've been having a sore throat now and off for a like 1-2 weeks. But I can't tell if it's just from the cigs and drinking or if it's serious. I've been drinking my ass off lately as well so I don't know what to think.
Is a sore throat a symptom? I've had one for weeks now but it never got bad
Supposedly yes, but it's bullshit because if you show up with a sore throat for a test you would get turned away. You basically have to be fucking dying to get a test. Unless you play fucking basketball or act in faggy movies, then you can get tested hourly if you wanted.
Yes
sore throat is the last thing you should worry about; as soon as you get breathing troubles, this is where you visit a clinic
How did he get it?
But what does that mean? As in it hurts to breathe or you can't breathe at all? These retards don't even fucking tell you
pics or it didn't happen
You’re probably fine man. Just take some Benadryl and whatever else to help your sore throat and shit.
Where was he?
My buddies sister said her lungs hurt from whatever she had and she’s already recovered. Idk if it was from all the coughing she said she was doing or what, but I don’t think that necessarily means you have COVID
I’d get checked out if it’s that bad tho for sure
if it hurts to breathe or you cant breathe you should ALWAYS visit a doctor since its bad even for a flu
I don't really know. I think it was because he actually gave a hug to someone
Pics, or you're not real
He was going to buy some food
That's sudden. Most people who are dying of COVID-19 are in hospitals.
You're much more likely to have a cold or a wrecked immune system due to your habits than the coronavirus.
Crunch the numbers. What's the population of your county or city, and how many cases are there? Even if you live in NYC, the number of confirmed cases is around .3% of the population. Now, of course the actual number is probably higher than that, but even if it's twice as many it would still be below 1%.
You should stay away from people regardless.
It's not me I'm worried about it's my parents. Plus these dumbasses where I live don't wanna say how many people exactly have gotten it.
So what should I do in the meantime? I wasn't planning to leave my out anytime soon. Maybe buy a handle but I'd have to think all those stores are gonna shut down.
>where I live
where's that?
That sucks, I've always done the whole social distancing thing before this started anyway. I don't even like shaking people's hands. Never understood what the fucking point of hand shaking was to begin with. It's like bro I don't even know you. What the fuck do you want to shake my hand for? Hopefully after this passes it'll become less popular.
It's not NYC but it's outside of it. And I don't know how many cases but I'd have to guess a lot if it's a hotspot. There are definitely a lot less people out than normal don't get me wrong, but it's hard for me to tell what's going on out there.
I'd rather not say exactly where, but it's near NYC
Lol
Yes, It felt like i got a knife right in my Heart, brain, and stomach when i heard that he was gone
I’d start wearing a face mask around the house, washing hands/using hand sanitizer a bunch, etc.; basically all regular precautionary measures to prevent spreading your illness. If it really is just a cold though, even if your parents did get sick, it won’t kill them.
if its worse by tomorrow, ask around in your city; i only know how it works in germany, not sure how the procedure is in other countries; ask your doctor, hospital they will help you for sure
Why are you such a psycho?
Is it even confirmed that wearing a mask would help? I'm not coughing or anything at the moment
You live in Long Island, don't you?
I'm a fellow NYCer... Staying locked in the house. Only out for food.
New Rochelle? Dude, it's not like we could somehow narrow it down to you.
>New Rochelle, you say?? Hmm judging by your posting style you must be Adam McDipshit.
That's the thing, the state is saying if you don't have "symptoms" you're not gonna get a test. Which makes no fucking sense because they're also saying if you've been exposed to someone with COVID you should get tested. So which fucking one is it? These people are ridiculous I'm getting tired of this bullshit.
No to both of those. And there aren't THAT many hotspots in general.
Besides why is it so important where exactly I live?
Hundred percent. Definitely prevents the spread of airborne illness, which COVID is. Pretty sure it’s the same for your average cold. Though you may not be coughing, sneezing, or even like breathing heavily or something could make whatever bacteria is causing your illness airborne. I think.
Just tell us where you live.. It's not important but i'm a nosey fuck and bored.
This is gross. Don't post pics of yourself
US had a couple months to prepare enough tests for what they're asking to make sense. They didn't, in no small part because Agent Orange called it a hoax. So your fucked because of narcissist and incompetence.
You were making allegations that numbers were being suppressed. I was wondering where in the world that was happening, and secondarily whether you were being realistic or paranoid.
>buy alcohol
>smoke cigarettes
FYI those are the worst things you can be doing right now. Read the news - you're already killing your lungs before an infection even sets in, and regular drinkers have less of some protective chemical in the lungs.
>Definitely prevents the spread
Masks hinder the spread, which is way better than nothing. They're not perfect. They matter more for an infected person not to spew virions everywhere; less so to prevent breathing them. Because you can be both asymptomatic and infected, it's a good idea to wear a mask, and it doesn't need to be an N95 one.
>Unless you play fucking basketball or act in faggy movies,
Or are a member of the military. Funny how there seem to be plenty of tests for government officials:
>At least 36 sailors aboard the Navy aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt have now tested positive for the novel coronavirus as of Friday
>the entire ship's crew of 5,000 is tested for the virus during a port visit to Guam.

>Never understood what the fucking point of hand shaking was to begin with.
pussy. i still have to go to work in manhattan and i'm feeling fine
Lmao
I don't have any masks though, besides a really old one that I think is the wrong type anyway
No it's not important. It makes no difference. A hotspot is a hotsport.
You realize tests are not the same as a cure, right? Yes it would be nice to have a test but either way I'd have it or I don't.
Fair enough, but I'd still rather not say, It's just based off one article I read, because I heard an some shit through a loud speaker from a cop car driving by. So I looked it up to see wtf was going on. That's when I realized I'm living in a hotspot. Whether you believe that or not I can't help you there.
That's what I'm saying. They should at least have masks for people who want one.
It's true though. Why do I HAVE to shake your hand? I don't know what the fuck you did with it. I've always washed my hands but I don't trust other people. It's one of the reasons I rarely get sick, I think.
Where the fuck do you work in Manhattan that's still making you go in?
Go buy some masks. Make the trip into the outside world, it’ll be worth it. Or ask a family member or friend to buy some and drop them off
That's only a problem if youre old
>You realize tests are not the same as a cure, right?
Adequate testing can significantly slow the infection rate. That's what South Korea did.
OP here, I was planning to stop doing both anyway, but this at least gives me an excuse
>Go buy some masks
From where? Most places have been wiped out by now
>That's only a problem if youre old
That's not right. Young people are dying from this.
I guess, but isn't the whole idea to stay at home and assume you have it? I don't see how testing would make a difference
But were they smokers and drinkers, but had other health problems?
>I don't see how testing would make a difference
Because many people who get it are asymptomatic
>how testing would make a difference
Trace and test
Take a known case. Trace all the people that have had contact with them. Test those people. Isolate the ones that are infected; most will have zero or only mild symptoms.
I understand that, but what I'm saying is that, isn't the whole point to keep people who may have it from going out in public anyway? Whether they are tested or not.
While all of this does make sense, how are you going to isolate people in America? You can't force people to stay indoor unless you enact martial law. The only thing they can do is set up a quarantine zone.
>how are you going to isolate people in America
Yeah, well, to make trace and test work you have to be able to isolate. Mandatory quarantine has legal precedent from the Typhoid Mary case. Deserves more debate about how to deal with infectious plagues in a liberal society.
I'd have to do some research into that. But we're not just talking about a group a place. We're talking about attempting to isolate possibly thousands of people at once, and depending on where you live ghetto minorities.
