I actually really like the A1 stock, I've come really accustomed to it, at 10" I find it right for my arm length. While some of the adjustable ones do extend longer it'll work for now. Don't know if you actually read the post but I literally just replaced the upper and will be working on different things later. Still gotta range test it after all the bullshit but I'll see what works best, used a few adjustable ones and wasn't the biggest fan.

You can't. But the part of the AR that's considered the firearm is the lower receiver. If you buy an 80% complete AR lower (not considered a firearm), do the rest of the metalwork yourself, then purchase the other parts, you can assemble one.

Original upper was a '69 Airforce Colt with no forward assist. lower is a High-Standard HSA-15 something A2 style. Brownells actually has some fucking sick retro builds, check 'em out.

Depends on the seller. If the seller has an FFL and wants to keep it, you'll be subjected to the same check as in a gun shop.
If you find a rando who's there to make "person-to-person sales" (even though they're basically just unlicensed dealers skirting the law) there won't be a background check. Whether they ask for ID is up to them. If they do and you hand it over, and it's an undercover BATF agent, you're going to prison.

Was specifically looking for reflex/holo sight, not a fan of ACOG sights and especially not tower sights, used irons since I started shooting (given that's only 9 years) but wanted a little upgrade. would much rather get a complete upper for nearly half the cost of a EO or some Trijicon, but that's just me.

Those aren't the same thing. Reflex sights are red dots. Red dots are reflex sights. The only difference between ones with an open design like the sightmark, and ones with a closed two lens design like an aimpoint is the aimpoint's emitter isn't exposed to the elements ready to get plugged and the lenses are gas purged so they won't fog up. You can get a good red dot for like $100-200.
Holographic sights are very different, there are literally three manufacturers of them in the entire world. Eotech, Vortex with their UH1, and there's a Russian one that is a complete piece of shit.

True I can see that, my cousin has a Bushmaster with a 3 prong with suppressor threads and I find that pretty neat. I always just enjoyed the retro look of the prongs but the cage is more practical I guess.
But hell yeah that's a awesome setup on both of them, Originally wanted to go with a quad rail type system but figured I'd try and catch up with the times on a M-LOK which I knew very little about until a month ago.
Eventually I'd love to build a DD, Bushmaster or even Knights Armament compact AR but just don't got the funds and where I'm located doesn't have the best options for ranges so I don't get a lot of trigger time in like where I used to live.
