I don't get why Doom 2016 drew so much ire. Because it wasn't a game from 1992? Of course not. It was a game inspired by the originals for a modern market and it hit both targets admirably. It was a 10/10 for what it tried to do, and it was a 10/10 in my opinion too.

Jade Cocoon from my childhood. That game was like a mature, wholly-3D Pokémon experience only way, waaay before it's time. You could hunt the creatures yourself using a blade or capture their souls to fight for you -- but the real gem of the game was the dynamic beast merging engine that could merge any two creatures you captured together to create an entirely new procedurally generated beast. They eventually made a sequel and it was decent but they scrapped the dynamic merging system and went for traditional Pokémon evolution instead, which was lame. We need a #3 with the old system back.

Weird as fuck videos of a girl in the middle of a field that silently stares at you and gets closer with unnerving music playing loudly and a fun trex demo where you can move him around and roar also a trippy ball physics hardware demo. There was also a the song "weird me out" by the dandelions that could be found in the cd files that doesn.'t appear anywhere in the tech demos.
