As for congac, start with the Remy martin VS or Hennessy V.S for the cheapest option, and as for taquila, I usually like Jose qiervo reposado, or if you're more into expensive taquila then milagro/patron.

Well it has some sweet notes, but it also has some more chocolate-ish taste, and it's a little more dense.
If you're into burbon and this is your first Japanese whiskey, then I strongly recommend buying a glass somewhere, before you buy a bottle. It's like a 80-90$ bottle, and trust me it's worth it if you're into it.

Actually until 1964, the vodka martini only existed in James Bond novels. Nobody ever ordered them until Dr. No was released onto the big screen.

Ian Flemming was a secret agent for The British Government at one time, and he had to protect members of the monarchy as well as british aristocracy, and foreign dignitaries and diplomats. He hated these people and thought the were snobbish and privileged. And these types of people always drank martinis. The one way Ian Flemming knew how to get back at these people was to come up with the vodka martini, knowing that this went against all tradition. Martinis are made with gin, and are stirred, so the people Ian Flemming was hired to protect would sure find the whole concept of a vodka martini, and the fact that it was mixed by being shaken quite offensive.

It was only after Dr. No was made into a film that people started ordering vodka martinis, and for years, many bar tenders refused to make them.
