It sounds good in its ideals but it always results in the same problems. Marxist, Leninist, Stalinist, whatever other branch you with to adhere to: shortages of material and an overbearing state which uses force to quell any civil upheaval. A state centered on bureaucracy. You can assign everyone a job to claim there is zero unemployment and that everyone is contributing something, but you're not going to convince people doing the most menial tasks that they are furthering some glorious revolution. They will naturally want to climb some kind of ladder and find freedom and opportunity, and that can result in counterrevolution.

And you're not going to get pure Socialism just like you're very unlikely to get pure Capitalism. A centrally-planned economy is a failure and you will rely on companies working to produce the required/desired goods (for profit). Likewise, anyone wanting Capitalism with zero government regulation or security is insane.
