Why are kids today such pussies? My dad used to throw rocks at me when I misbehaved but now just spanking your kids is child abuse. What kind of bullshit is that. When my dad beat me it was to teach me a lesson and it made me act better. I look at some people my own age and it makes me sick like you can tell a lot of people in my generation weren’t taught discipline and respect and they are ruining the next generation of kids. How do we stop this?

Btw, speaking as someone whose dad was also physically violent. And that managed to heal. Raising kids is hard work. It requires high cognitive functioning and resilience, so that you're able to tell them right from wrong without losing control of your higher order cognition and going into ape fight or flight anger. I know that my dad was a war vet and had plenty of anger issues.

It's shitty parenting. But there are a lot of shitty people out there that only think of themselves. Of course they'll think they were raised right. But those same people might have past trauma that has caused them to drink or have anger issues. They are just too thick to connect the dots.

Guess why parents stopped beating their children? They wanted to be better than their own parents. There are lots of good ways to teaching your kids decent manners and values. Pelting them with rocks isn't one of them. You teach a dog by beating it and it'll usually turn aggressive or passive and scared. Same sort of applies with humans. We just cope differently. Some go to the bottle. Some bottle it up. Some turn violent. Beating a child can come with a cost later in life. If you get kids, raise them better.
