First you get red-purple, dusky, flat lesions (macules) that start out on your torso, and spread out from there. Then these spots turn into large blisters, which end up rotting and peeling off from the body in great swaths.
Your cytotoxic CD8+ T cells become overactive and kill keratinocytes, which are cells in the deeper layers of your skin responsible for keeping your skin together, by releasing perforin, granzyme B, granulysin, tumor necrosis factor alpha and fas ligand.
This is mostly caused by certain drugs and medications which overexcite the cytotoxic CD8+ T cells.
