What the hell are you on about? Its common practice to stay away from sick people to keep from getting sick. This takes one step more and tells people to just stay away from everyone for a little while to stop it dead in its tracks. The problem is not the mortality of the virus on the whole population, which is around 4 to 6%. The problem is it is highly contagious.
90% of those 4-6% are elderly and immunosuppressed people, also the same targets that get in critical condition and require hospital care and end up in ICU.
Since it spreads like wildfire it ends up overloading hospitals faster than people can get healed.
If you think it is just a scare tactic, here in Spain all you have to do is go visit any hospital in Madrid, and you will see how "blown out of proportion" it really is. Since airports are all closed and you cannot, you can do that now in your country, or maybe in a couple weeks.
Shit is really bad here, isolation is an attempt to decrease hospital overload to a point it can actually take people in again with time.
