That sucks mane. I put down my cat of 9yrs 4yrs ago but she had been with me through a divorce and all sorts of shit. I still get weepy thinking about her.
That said. Never let your cat be outside cat. Aside from the obvious (getting run over). They kill all the small wildlife and generally terrorize the ecosystem. I hope you act differently with your next one.
