My father in law. 75 years old, had recent breathing problems due to thoracic surgery. Then he got a fever and called the amberlamps because girlfriend is a bank teller at a major busy bank in New Rochelle (fucking epicenter). He knew that made him high risk so he went in and they tested him and he does have it. Right now he's sitting in an old PT rehab that was quickly renovated to be an isolated/quarantine sort of thing, with nurses and labs etc in Queens. He's ok for now and breathing reasonably well, I spoke to him about 3 hours ago on the phone. There's a zero visitor policy, nobody in or out other thans doctors and nurses. His gf got tested too not because they were pretty sure that's where he got it from and sure enough she has it too but she's healthy enough to self quarantine at home. Nobody else in the family has any symptoms ... yet.

The Spanish Flu was worse. It had about the same death rate, but it affected everyone almost indiscriminately. A lot of healthy 20-30 year olds died. Whole Native American families got deleted.

My mom was exposed to it at her chemo center. She hasn't been tested, but she's self quarantining.
