Most seem to have not had it badly, don't know anyone who was hospitalised, some were stuck in bed for a week though.

I'm a federal employee. Boring desk job. We had two confirmed cases in my building, one of which was on my floor. Don't know who they were.

My mother in law swears that this is all a hoax. She's a Trump supporter, and when my wife asked her what she thought now that Trump is coming around to reality, she said that he's being forced by the Democrats to report false information and close things down. She thinks the Democrats orchestrated everything, even the shit in other parts of the world. As far as I can tell, she took a right turn at sanity, went past FoxNews, and entered a whole new realm of delusion. It feels like a group of Republicans are branching off to start their own band of deniers.

I'm actually very proud of the ones who, at first didn't believe this was real, are now joining us in reality. This is what Trump meant by everyone coming together. There will be a time later to point fingers, but for now we should be thinking of each other's safety. Viruses don't give a shit about political parties.

I'm tired of people and their asshole conspiracy theories that have no evidence behind them.

It's a virus to which zero people on the planet have immunity/natural resistance. So the upper limit of contagion is quite literally every human being on the planet. Even 0.2% of that is 14,000,000 people. (That's not even accounting for the fact that hospitals don't have unlimited resource's – which, to be sure, they don't.) Also, without active prevention, the virus will have more opportunities to mutate into something that operates like the flu, with a new strain(s) popping up every year or so. So yes, we need to keep this in check, lest we succumb to an ungodly number of deaths as a species.
