I work for Maine Medical Center in Portland ME.
So, up until last week we had zero cases. Then we had 2, now we have 7 confirmed, another 5 presumptive. 1 of those cases is at an old folks home that's like part assisted living, part nursing facility. That 1 case is due to a family member who didn't pay attention and went in to visit their relative. Don't be all that surprised if we see a hell of a lot more deaths here in short order.
Part of the problem is that the CDC provided Maine with ONE testing kit, each testing kit containing 1000 tests. So far we've used 100 of those tests that I'm aware of. The problem is we can't just test anyone who should be tested. Sure, we've gotten turn around time cut way down because the company we work with for labs has gotten approval to run the tests themselves, so instead of 24 hours or more for results, we can get the tests done in 6. But we should be testing EVERYONE who wants to be tested, like the president said.
I voted for this guy because, honestly, I thought it was lulzy to watch liberals lose their fucking minds. I'm starting to see that I made a HUGE mistake. First he was saying it's a hoax, then he's saying it's just going to blow over, then he's saying everyone who wants tests can get them, then he says it's not his fault that shits getting out of hand. HE FUCKING FIRED all the people who had the job of literally dealing with this like this.
How the fuck are we supposed to test everyone who wants a test? We don't HAVE the tests. We should have had them a month ago, and now we're looking at community spread which could have been prevented.
This is a cluster fuck of epic proportions.
