realize that the current numbers reported at best have 5 days delay (for literally retarded countries like usa with very little testing done, it should be closer to 14 days). in countries where they do better with testing, they see daily increase of +20-30% cases, of which on conservative estimate 10% require hospitalization. so in general, 2-3% of active cases requires medical attention. next, check how many hospital beds your country has (wikip has list for all oecd countries). congrats, now you can make an estimate of when you will start seeing rapid increase in deaths, not even connected with corona, but just due to no healthcare available, from cardiovascular diseases, cancers etc. eu countries introduced a lot of new measures yesterday and only next week we'll start seeing how exactly they help.

But the WHO and all the national equivalents are on full alert, because this disease is more contagious and faaar more deadly than the regular flu. If Covid-19 would have a death rate of the regular flu the WHO would still notice, but not implement severe containment. But with an uncontained spread it has been quickly shown that the body count could be over 100 million in one year. That is a cause for concern.
