here is why. Men are programmed to be attracted to mates that are host a higher probability of having pregnancy and birth be successful. Its pretty simple. Back in the day the fertility idols were figures that were not like the women they had. Anyone who was thick or fat was well off and had no problems surviving. That translates now to today. We witness them as better suited candidates to carry children.

To me, it's less about being a fatty and more about wider hips. Wider hips to me equal fertility and the ability bear children.
