It's not about pollutions or that hippie stuff (sure I bet most of the supporters of fridays for future are also against this) but about CO2 emissions and global warming. The problem is when the temperature rises to high feedback loops kick in, which will start an uncontrollable temperature increase, i.e. a point of no return.
From the point of climate change, dumping all oil into the ocean, while being terrible for the environment, would actually be a measure against climate change, as it wouldn't be burned.
The pollution of ecosystems with plastic, and the pollution of the atmosphere with CO2 are two completely different problems, and only the latter is a problem regarding climate change
