Typically custom built, it's just how I've always done it. I was given a Dell Dimension 4100 a few years back though, which is actually the only Socket 370 system I have. Dropped in the max supported CPU, a 1.0 GHZ Coppermine Pentium III, and swapped out the Trident gpu for a GeForce 4 MX. It came with an Aureal Vortex 1, not sure if I wanna swap that for a Soundblaster Live, or use one of my Vortex 2s on for this system.

Oh man, I still don't have a S370 system.. The CPUs are dirt cheap, but finding a good motherboard is a major PITA..
I mostly go for Socket 462 for that same reason, it's just way easier to get parts, I even have a fair few NOS boards!
Not to mention, Geode NX processors are the bees knees.. I use a Geode with a Geforce 2 MX for most games!

Also the Vortex2 is better used in a faster system than 1GHz. Aureal3D2 is a resource hog and no game with good implementation is speed sensitive so apart from period correctness there's no good reason to put the card in a slow system.
But that's just my two cents.

I never got the 3Dfx hype - sure the V1 was a real revolution and V2SLI is cool for hugely enlarging your e-peen but the V3 wasn't far ahead anymore and it used to be the cheap alternative to a SLI setup with a fast Nvidia card. Now people are paying 100$+ for one? Ridiculous, the card isn't worth that.
I'd love a Aureal SQ3500 though just to see how much the addon card improves performance.
