Bros help me out do I get a computer with 16gb ram or 64?
what are you using it for? Yas Forums original
If you have too much RAM, your CPU might not be able to handle it, and it will slow down. What type of processor do you have?
i9-9900K
to play vidya and do stuff on my other monitor while i do like talk to you
Get 16gb if you're going to be playing high end vidya streaming or editing. Get 64gb if you're going to be collecting and studying large amounts of data. Ram stores memory from the hard drive so it can access it quicker that's all it's for.
Hmmm, that might be enough power to drive 64GB actually. Some of the previous-gen CPUs could only reliably access 32GB at top-speed though. I guess if it's not good enough, you could always consider overclocking. Or turning off sectors of RAM (maybe like 6GB at most though), until it clocks in at the right frequency. You can monitor these things with free software, so it's not too hard to do.
the 64 would be overkill? wouldn't it be nice to have just in case?
Like I said, it's up to you if you want to risk slowdown. It's a little bit of work to fix it, but if you want something that just runs "out of the box" then less is more.
DDR4 DIMMs is 64 gb of RAM. And specifically the kind of RAM in a computer would be Synchronous DRAM.
This is a good response.

don't get 64 gigs lol. that is insanely overkill. i have 16g and render videos, animations, and do 3d modeling and have never had an issue. you will literally never use more than 32g
From my knowledge, 16gb would be considered demanding and is usually what you can expect of new releases. I have been playing most games fine on 8gb so 64 seems unnecessary.
I don't know what those words mean.
This.
32Go is largely enough.
to give an analogy, that's like asking whether it would be nice to have 12 tyres instead of 4, for your four wheeled car
bros is short for brothers
Get a 64 gig.
Then get a 1 petabyte hard drive and fill it with everything regarding Kevin Spacey. All his movies, interviews, articles written regarding him. Commercials and speeches. Then place it on a pedestal in an art museum and tell people that you have Kevin Spacey in the box. As you explain you can watch people come to the dawning realization that you're being autistic, which is close enough to what they care about, and they will laud you as a genius. May even be some sexual interaction in your future.
He's talking about RAM or Random Access Memory and even more specifically, he's referring to Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory which is the RAM commonly used in desktop computers.
Memory is different from a storage device. The storage device (like a spinning hard drive or a solid state drive) is used to store programs: data for intended use at another time. SDRAM memory on the other hand is different because it has to be refreshed (hence the word dynamic) in order for it to load information. The word random refers to being able to access the memory at any place and at any time. It's incredibly fast. RAM is responsible for why programs can load on an operating system such as Windows. The program is stored on a storage device and then the information is loaded into RAM whenever the program is run by the user. Once the user powers down the computer, the memory will no longer have that program data and instead, it's held in the storage device.
The RAM performs calculations at super fast speeds at the synchronization of the common system clock and that's because data is simply bits or bytes of binary code (ie: 10100001)
and that's on being CompTIA A+ certified BABY
64 if the motherboard and processor support it, check the websites of both.
Are you buying this prepackaged or are you installing the RAM cards yourself? I think 64 is massively overkill just for funposting your dank maymays while you play Elf Breeder. Keep in mind you can always swap out your RAM for better cards if you absolutely must make that leap to 64.
It's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it plays out for him.
64. That way you have more.
I know that's a basic certificate but I've learned so much from studying this stuff (so far). Lol I know there's many more certs you can get and you don't have to take the COMPTIA route.
wouldn't 64 future proof me? games are getting more spec intensive
Bigger number good.
128 Gb or rope yourself op.
Trust me I own a razor keyboard, I'm a professional.
If you're just using it for gaming and chatting, then you have no reason to need more than 16, yet unless you play Rust or some game with a billion fucking mods. It'd be nice for future proofing, though.
32gb would be future proof 64gb stick would probably stop working before you even need that much
64 for gaming and mining shitcoins fren
how would it stop working?
