The evidence that people give to show that women's premarital partners are correlated with a higher chance of divorce is highly flawed.
That study wasn't a randomized controlled trial, so there are lurking variables all over the place. All it really shows is that religious and other socially conservative people are likely to both have few premarital partners and to avoid divorce. If divorce were less stigmatized in these communities, there's a good chance the women who are virgins on their wedding night would be filing a lot more frequently.
Also, it speaks to the bias of the principal researchers that they didn't even look at the relationship in men.
