I don't know if mine counts but I went to an expensive grammar school in the south of England. It was bretty good and probably much better than the comprehensive I would have gone to otherwise
YOU YES YOU STAND STILL LADDIE
I was homeschooled but I went to a world-class university. It's not a very well trodden path as you really need to be at a prestigious high school to get into those schools.
I went to Catholic school. On the one hand learning about the Bible and Catholic tradition was cool, and the students were probably a lot better behaved than their public school equivalents. On the other hand, I don't think the instruction itself was actually any better than public schools- in my view a prestigious class is overrated, it's really the same course no matter where you take it. Additionally, I'm an atheist, so one could argue that theology courses were a waste of time. In conclusion, I want my (parents') money back.
>you really need to be at a prestigious high school to get into those schools
lol no, most universities nowadays seek out high GPA students who go to schools in low-income neighborhoods. Controlling for GPA, it is BETTER to have gone to a bad school, at least from an admissions perspective.
Yeah, times have changed but not that much. If you look at a school like Philips Exeter, its essentially a Harvard/MIT feeder school and the vast majority of them will end up on Wall Street/Silicon Valley afterwards. Still makes the process a heck of a lot easier.
Ya I went to an all girls grammar school. It was pretty okay I guess. It was more or less wasted on me because I'm a neet now but I'd have had a much rougher time in the wider education system so I'm appreciative of that opportunity.
don't those guys all eat each other's cum or something like that?
is that andover?
I went to a school in the same athletic league. they always kicked our asses at our homecoming
Yeah, kinda looks like the Caltech building tho
I think that's mostly because smarter kids go to those schools. There are all kinds of selection effects that screen out all the dummies you get in public schools, so you end up with a stock that is just genetically smarter.
1. Parents have to value education enough to actually send their kids there.
2. In many cases, parents have to make enough money to afford the tuition (although financial aid makes this more negotiable).
3. More importantly, these high schools themselves have admissions standards, only picking the brightest middle school students.

>The school has been historically highly selective, with an acceptance rate of 15% for the 2019-2020 school year
I suspect that if you were the type of student who could have gone to Philips Exeter, you would have a much easier time than the average student getting into Harvard no matter what high school you went to.
>I suspect that if you were the type of student who could have gone to Philips Exeter
what I am wondering is how can you get to this stage if you don't have a family structure to encourage you.
when I was in middle school i would just hangout with my idiot friends and cut class, being from a broken home my single dad gave no shits to develop my discipline or anything.
are talented kids that way innately? or do their parents start them on the right path, and if you don't have those parents you are fucked
I think it's difficult to say. Genes are important, and you inherit them from your parents. So while a shitty family structure can set you back, it can also be indicative of genes that will set you back. E.g. if you have a violent parent who behaves erratically, that's going to fuck up your home life, but it also means you might have violent genes, and are just more innately prone to act violent and erratic in school, which will get you in trouble no matter what your home life is like. That being said, I would at least agree that home life is more important than school choice. I've known plenty of kids who were bright but just didn't have the support they needed from their parents, or had to get a job at 16 and didn't have time for homework after that.
Basically, I don't know. I think some of it is innate, but I don't know how much.
Yes, you do need the family and to a lesser extent, social structure. But innate ability counts for more from my experience. A lot of kids at top schools are very few wealthy families and/or academics.
Look at that 20 year old billion dollar AI company CEO. Graduated from Philips Exeter (i think). Accepted to MIT where he had a perfect grade before dropping out. His parents are Los Alamos scientists.
ah well. maybe in the next life i wont be so mediocre.
Fuck anyone who went to these schools.
You and your entire family are part of a problem that needs to be swiftly dealt with and soon youll be dead.
I don't know if you realize that a significant portion of the student body at places like exeter and andover are there on scholarships
exeter has a $1 billion endowment, they will pay you to go there if you're smart enough
>You and your entire family are part of a problem that needs to be swiftly dealt with and soon youll be dead.
Pretty rude user.
>stuyvesant high school
>harvard ba in cs
>wharton mba
>still an asian-american manlet
People are actually nice and decent to each other, a cynic would postulate that this is solely due to students trying to make connections that will serve them in later life. There is a grain of truth to this. Many of the asian international students were well connected as fuck, as in a guy's dad was in charge of a stock exchange connected. They were not incels since they would literally travel to europe and penetrate escorts. We, to whom received 'merit-based' financial aid (poor chinks whose parents literally washed dishes in a chinese restaurant) were not so fortunate. I did start to partake in international whore mongering after my mba.
>inb4 larping
this ain't no secret club nigger
wanna be my friend?
i'm totally mediocre in every way but i'd like to change that.
If you are white and tall, you have no excuse, you are pretty much guaranteed to have a better life than me.
>white and tall
hapa and average. trust me you have it better.
yes. i went to a private, all boys, jesuit high school. AMA
>slant eye, pig snout chinese
>five foot five inches tall
checkmate
stuyvesant is a public high school you dumb larping fuck. there's no tuition and there sure as hell isn't any financial aid.
there are no international students at stuy because, again, it's a public fucking high school. you have to live in NYC to attend it.
t. I actually know people who went there
>shit job
>no friends
you are rich, or can easily become rich, so just use that to compensate. what am i supposed to do?
I was speaking of boarding school kids I met in college you room temperature iq retard
>know people that went
>didn't go there yourself
how am I not surprised?
>how am I not surprised?
I don't live in NYC. I went to deerfield anyways.
>I was speaking of boarding school kids I met in college you room temperature iq retard
Then you should have specified.
P good
Watching wealthy kids get in trouble is the best entertainment on planet earth because they fucking turn that shit up to beyond MAX
>shit job
All jobs are shit, especially the high paying ones, look up what an investment banker has to go through, not fun. Actionable advice? Government accounting job. Recession proof (especially pertinent these days), legally can't be outsourced (bad optics), surprisingly easy to qualify for (some jobs only require an associates degree), hard 40hr/wk limit, benefits, pension, lots of positives.
>no friends
I made all my friends at school, work, alumni associations, and volunteering. Making "new" friends is nigh impossible these days with social media for a boomer like me.
>deerfield
oh shit nigga, what the fuck are you doing here? were you there when that sex abuse scandal broke?
I'm your typical socially incompetent nerd, that's why I'm here
the sex scandal was actually before my time so they were settling the lawsuits when I attended. I didn't know any of the people involved.
