What is your honest opinion of reddit?
What is your honest opinion of reddit?
Like it better than the chan honestly.
Better organized, there is still some level of anonymity, less derailing of threads from what I see, but in the end it's really who and what you follow or tune into that shapes experience
I only go to gaming subreddits to ask questions about game mechanics since the v and vg boards don't cover everything. Apart from that I don't really pay attention to them. It's just normies.
SJW ridden shithole and a horrible format to read.
Only thing good about it that it archives stuff so you can get info about flavor of the month shit years later
A vast majority of users there unironically suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Its ok, but the political talk has taken over that shithole. I'm thinking like 95% of those people are leftist and it bleeds into every. fucking. post. it can be the least political shit and someone will spin it to be so. Its a nice place to find people who have the same interests and shit in one spot though. I always type reddit at the end of google shit because I find it more helpful for actual people with experiences to talk about the shit im wondering about
People on there, take it too seriously
Posts can be useful for information or links to certain programs, much like old tech forums and such.
The good subreddits are the ones with less than a 100.000 subs
Total shithole. 99% of the top "neutral" political subs just shit on trump, the subreddit againsthatesubs go on brigades spamming child porn on subs they dont like/subs that dont like trans niggers. Also mods see all this and go against their own rules just to fit their own agenda.
The subreddit system is naturally very handy and I've used it a lot just to find things, I would never want to ingratiate myself with any form of reddit "culture", though. There are definitely intelligent people that use reddit and I've even dabbled with the idea of creating an account just to have what I picture as more engrossing conversations than what I might get from the Anonymous posting of Yas Forums, but I'm usually stopped from ever doing this when I quickly see the way reddit dog-piles on anybody with a dissenting opinion with smugposts and downvotes.
Yas Forums irritates the fuck out of me, but I know reddit would do it more.
Only use it if I have a question or something I want to Google. Don't have an account though.
Owned by china. Its only good if you need resources for a specific topic not if you want to speak freely
In the end it has the same problem as imageboards, there is either too many people and the same tested and tried jokes or it's dead and only serves to see links with nobody interacting
You will be enjoying memes about your favorite game in it's subreddit, but you're entire mood is killed by the same awful reddit humor and the mandatory "here's how this is racist/sexist/homophobic" top comment
Yeah the only subreddits I use are the gaming ones. Not many and not often though.
Yas Forums pros
>more honest
>more freedom of expression, can blow off steam by flaming people and won't get banned
>anonymity
>easier to post pictures, can post pictures alongside replies instead of having to link to an image hosting website
Yas Forums cons
>everyone's a cunt, people will go out of their way to make you feel bad
>99.9% of tripfags
>retarded Yas Forums/4channel split
Reddit pros
>vast diversity of subreddits, something for everyone
>built in feature to save posts
>people are generally nicer and more hepful
Reddit cons
>every subreddit becomes a circlejerk echo chamber
>culture is absolutely insufferable
>faggots reading your post history to dig up evidence to cancel you
>only semi-anonymity
>can't talk about anything controversial or you'll get banned/deleted/quarantined/etc
>up/downvote system is genuine cancer
All in all, they're good in different ways and bad in different ways, too. You just have to be realistic about you can expect.
They deserve utter extermination for being vermin.
a website built around community censorship via the upvote system that still relies heavily on janitor moderation.
thats really my main gripe with it. its not their complete aversion to truth, hollywood dick sucking or desperation to get a top level comment by reposting drivel. its the lack of free speech.
This guy gets it.
>You have been muted for 2 seconds
Of course.
reddit has accounts and therefore reputation and is therefore inferior to Yas Forums
i haven't really tried reddit, so it would be unfair to say something about it.
I just use it for some of my hobbies. I don't really interact with the retards there. My account is almost 10 years old and I've yet to comment even once.
top 5 ways to get upvotes on reddit
>be a woman
>make a (predictable) joke or reference to something
>image of a black person not killing someone
>orange man bad
>post your kid
Depends in the subreddits. I pretty much only visit r/musictheory nowadays and the top upvoted comments are usually the most helpful and educated responses. This is not to say that most subreddits are absolute cancer, but that a few of them are good enough to make the existence of Reddit worth it.
What can be pretty nice is the amateur pics.
Wish you could find girls like on r/misogyny fetish or r/DegradingHoles posting on /soc/
But then I remember 90% are like posted by their cuck bf and the rest are looking to scam some money.
someone's poisoned the watering hole
If I ask Jewgle a question and the first link is plebbit, it's usually a good, useful discussion about what I want. If I ask Yas Forums they just call me a faggot. In any other case plebbit is for soibois/normies who are addicted to validation. Maybe it depends on the board/whatever.
>The same jokey replies to serious questions.
>The whataboutism whenever China's failures are brought up (I've seen some legitimate pro-CCP dedicated shill accounts that ONLY write in defence of the regime).
>Recycled content, followed by "well I haven't seen it" comments
>The zoomer humour of TicToks and sex jokes.
>"Politics" that can be summed up as neoliberal charicatures, rather than genuine interest in resolving issues.
It's all too much. Trump derangement, content restriction, and Chinese investments + content have broken them.
Insufferable is an understatement.
Its good if you have a specific question or interest, garbage for just about everything else. The poor excuse of humor however is just insultingly bad.
It doesn't seem as horrid as it's made out to on here but it's the most normie place in the world. It seems like everyone on there is the typical annoying university douche that has shitty normie jokes, is annoying left or annoyingly right (and usually left), has a problem with someone, humble bragging, virtue signaling, etc.
There are a few good subs but all the "big" ones are fucking garbage. People complain about censorship but they do a shit job at that
>"Lockdown" a sub which just means you need a 3rd party so search
>People can still post on locked subs
>All of the locked subs are basically the same group of people over and over instead of deleting their account
