Bro I have had so many friends die young from lean a lot of people overdose on that shit. My best friend died drinking too much of it. I probably know 10 people who died before they were 25 due to lean. It is not safer but it is definitely better then booze. Brother, I'm black. I grew up down South, Texas to be exact, where lean was popularized. It is not a great drug. You wanna know where it came from?
Way back in the days when most of the South was rural, poor black kids wanted to get lit. They weren't old enough to get alcohol and they didn't live near any drug dealers so they couldn't get real drugs, so they raided medicine drawers and got high on cough syrup instead. My mom, who was born in 1961, remembers kids from her high school going up on "the hill" to drink cough syrup because there was no widely available drug in her town until the crack epidemic hit.
Hip hop glamorized the drug and made it the cool thing, but the truth is, it's a drug that was born out of necessity. There are much better ways to get high.

Lean is inherently addictive. You could have no addictive personality traits and you will become and addict if you use regularly, or as often as your average non-alcoholic drinks alcohol.
