I did,and i got in a relationship with my chinese instructor.

I broke a 28 day streak on duoling a few days ago. I guess now I know how long my motivation bursts can last.

will I get a nip gf?

Duolingo is weird with teaching japanese, it goes over the kana out of order. Read genki.

the US needs to put more emphasis on multilingualism.
i've always admired how many people throughout europe seem to be at least bilingual, if not trilingual! i chatted with a lot of people in europe online as a teen and it seriously inspired me. i'm pretty good with spanish since it's taught in schools here and there's a lot of spanish speakers in my state. i started teaching myself russian in high school and picked it up again recently, i get to take my first russian language course next semester and i'm stoked.

Already know two languages, but not out of any effort on my part....
Tried Latin during highschool but didn't get a single thing...

I'm studying German, and I'm enjoying it. I refuse to fall for the Japanese meme like some of the 'Multilingual-Chads" on this board. Some people find German to be a loud and angry language, but I like it. Its sexy desu

I forget everything I learn on DuoLingo because I have nobody IRL to practice with.

I already speak 2 languages fluently. Learning a third one right now (french)

I'm fluent in 3 and can decently understand a handful more.

>German is sexy
Da hast Du voellig recht, mein Freund.

I'm studying Latin so I can make the nuns wet.

Holy water works just as well.

Duolingo sucks
>The cat sat on the horse
>The pizza is a dog
>Woman eats the cat with horse.

?????
great take there buddy

300 streak here. I study mainly Dutch, but sometimes Russian. I already learn German and Swedish outside Duolingo

enjoy wasting thousads of hours on learning and never needing the launguage cause every worthwile person speaks english

close minded american is almost a proverb

Multilinguals are more likely to get laid. Its actually a viable strategy.

i'm learning python as we speak. get on my level

>braindead american has braindead take
honestly at this point I just hope the chinese take over America and rape and pillage it so everyone is forced to learn mandarin

Can you go into more detail as to why duolingo jap is trash? And where I can go to learn properly?

>t. anglo/franc who has never considered learning jap until this moment

I only know that du is you but I'm guessing that says "you have the right idea, my friend"?

Japanese uses 3 different writing systems that are pretty different both in use and how they actually function (2 of them are just characters that represent 2 sounds/one syllable each, the other is like Chinese that represents concepts with one or a combination of symbols). Duolingo fails to do this cause it only teaches you vocab. If you want to learn jap either buy a good audio course (Pimsleur is pretty good and highly rated), a good audio-text combination course (ASSIMIL is pretty good, but dry and boring sometimes), or get a decent app (Lingodeer is intuitive and easy) and then try and get free help from natives or fluent speakers online (literally just look up language exchange discords and dont say nigger in them).

if being multilingual makes me a chad then i'm fucking uberchad

Is it possible to learn a new language as an adult?

Always thought it was like instruments, you know, something you need to do as a kid while brain is developing to ever be good at it.

still better than doing nothing tho

Thank you for the guide fren. I'll give that app a try

Maybe get past the first levels of the language you are learning and it wont seem so trivial lazy user

When I was little the doctors told my parents that I would never learn to talk. Now I can speak fluent English and Dutch. So I've already surpassed all expectations.
