Trans folks (especially non binary people) have often had their identities collectively invalidated their entire lives. They've been misgendered and told they aren't what they know they are. Seeking shelter in a community that actively lifts them up and supports them is about survival in a world that tells them they can't possibly exist in the way they do and frequently bars them from being treated equally (it is still legal in most places to deny someone housing, employment or basic services on the basis of someone's gender identity.) Any time a trans person dares to show confidence they get laughed at or told they shouldn't exist. Just look at this thread for examples.

I actually agree with you that abnormal people should be given space and comfort of their own, especially autists, any mentally ill, people with "unusual self-identification" etc. But this isn't the place for that. And no normal person will ever really give a shit abkut people who are "weird". My advice, if you want something done, do it yourself.

I'm enjoying the moment right now that alot of trannies are freaking out since they cant go back to there college, like their safety gated community got taken way from them because of covid19. but will demand it to be reopened first rather then important things. i think there will be more suicides coming in the next year or two if shit lasts for a long time.

And yet they're met with absolutely vile hatred on this site. Someone can't mention they're trans on this site outside of /lgbt/ without being told to kill themselves, no matter how reverent their experience as a trans person is to the thread. They're regularly told on here that the high suicide rate of trans people is somehow their own fault and not the product of a society that laughs at and systematically marginalizes them. If anything they should be more accepted here than elsewhere, there's a lot of shared trauma between trans people and the angry cis men who post here.
