Value yourself highly and don't settle for anyone who doesn't possess the qualities you want in a person. It's worked for me so far. Put people through a bit of a vetting process before considering getting into a romantic relationship with them. If they don't show themselves to have what you want, then keep looking. You deserve to be with someone who makes you happy and treats you right.
