No, it means you said something people didn't like. During my month and half on reddit I racked up a couple thousand karma no problem by sticking to single subreddit where people mostly agreed with me. Then I started trolling another subreddit full of incels and creeps and their downvotes felt better than any amount of karma, because it meant I was actually wounding them enough that they bothered. I even abided by all the rules, too, and got banned anyway. Oh, well, so much for the "red pill" and fearlessly facing the truth.
