This is a terrible timeline, we need to fix it.
This is a terrible timeline, we need to fix it
the breaking point was not fucking 2016 retard
Fucking this breaking point was 2009
It was when things went from being somewhat salvageable to being irreparably ruined forever.
>REEE EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL
>REEE FUCK RIGHT WINGERS
?
>2016
Fuck off back to high school babby
Get some reading comprehension brainlet
Breaking point was 2011 at best user. But yeah, I do agree with you that this is a terrible timeline.
2016 absolutely was the year where the internet went to shit. Everything now is either corporations, politics and shitty journalism. Normal dudes don't make anything without expecting some form of payement like patreon or donations. Everything is centralized around 5-6 overcontrolled websites.
Fuck I miss the old internet.
The breaking point was 2007 when the iPhone came out I blame apple
>considering atheism as something positive
how old are you all? even in 2007 people were saying the internet only used to be good
That's irrelevant, you can argue whether or not the internet was better in the 90s, but that doesn't change the fact that there was another cataclysmic downgrade around 2014-2016.
The reality is, left led to right.
Yas Forums was always bad, reality hasn't been good since the fall of rome, although it has gotten better for peasants but still sucks
t. your dad
I actually think post-2016 was very preventable.
Gamergate and the specific election situation of 2016 marked massive cultural shifts that came down to the actions of just a few people.
In my opinion 2016 was the peak year for internet culture. It almost seems to me as if after 2016 people's social lives just became going on the internet and doing shit, as a result all the flaws and problems of the normalfaggot world seeped into online culture. Even facebook used to be kind of funny with kids talking shit about their parents and sharing things between themselves that their parents would disapprove of.
2016 was the year edgy comedy was in its heyday. Then people either got mad about it or liked it so much they just became far rightists.
>2009
try 2006, zoomer
>In my opinion 2016 was the peak year for internet culture.
Your opinion is wrong and retarded. Peak internet culture was 1998-2003
>2006
try 2003 zoomer
I've never seen a more blatant "no, my childhood was the objectively best time!" post.
This is a terrible thread.
You need to delete it.
Fuck all of you. I'm 27,000 years old and the internet was already shit in the bronze age.
Not my fault you chose to be born too late for it.
Spotted the zoomer!
zoooooooooooom ZOOOOOOOOM
ZOOM LITTLE ZOOMIE ZOOOooooom
>2016
HAHAHAHAHA ZOOOOM
>wojak
He's been around for a decade little zoomy
Fucking this.
Fucking this times 100.
>le Drumpft turned muh Yas Forums into Nazis!
We've been going downhill since Chanology. The end came when Hot Topic decided to print Rage Face T-Shirts. 2007-2009
>He's been around for a decade little zoomy
Wojak wasn't an issue when he was just the feels guy you idiot
Where are/what happened to the old internet crowd?
They still exist, but they're being drowned out by normgroids 100-to-1 on everything but the most obscure forums.
They've also been chased off of or suppressed on mainstream social media sites with rampant censorship and mobs of people mass reporting everything they don't like.
Not even close. At most it was 2011, but the decline was far earlier.
God I just want to go back to 2008 and start over.
Kind of funny how he was solely meant for feels but then eventually subsumed all possible feelings.
video games and Yas Forums have both been dead since 2008
>vidya gaems
it only seems that way because 2007 was the greatest year in video game history
Actually gamers died in 2014, remember?
Then why not make it or at least try to make comfy like it was back in the day? Even if we only do it here
I hate how lolsorandum/lolsoquirkiness is now trendy again but also 100x more obnoxious and stupid.
The change happened around 2011 not 2016
Myspace and web 2.0 in general was the beginning of the internet going through a gradual downfall and set the blueprint for all the bullshit nowadays; 2013-2014 was where the first super significant drop and bastardization of the internet began (including SJW presence being notable, cancerous youtube edgelord ecelebs rising, youtube being a major business hot spot, rise of people becoming post-ironic nazi trumpfags)
2016 was when zoomer culture took over everything; normalfags became addicted to the internet - thus co opting and ruining niche cultures by crybullying everyone and calling the originals/purists gatekeepers and SJW/alt right shit infected EVERYTHING IRL and online; and even being apolotical gets you confronted and kicked the shit out of because 'le radical centrist scum!!!!'
>2016 is the cut-off
>bantz
>melty
>good e-celebs
>atheism on the ride
>rightwing SJWs
>moralfaggotry
OP is a faggot
Post-2016 internet is way better than 2007-2016 internet. The consolidation of everyone into a couple websites means that obnoxious idiots are all busy slinging shit on twitter or whatever, and aren't doing it on whatever little community you've carved out for yourself. Of course, this also means that places like Yas Forums, which are infamous rather than mainstream are sought out by those same assholes, but hey that's your problem not mine. ;)
>athiesm on the rise
Well heres your problem fellow neet, people have lost their faith in god, and that broke them and society. In the absence of god people worship their vices, their passions and themselves. We has as a collective, given ourselves over to inner demons and beasts by rejecting the virtues of god.
>atheism on the rise is a good thing
Right sounds a lot better
idk why everybody's bitching, OP is on the money here
They disagree because they're part of the problem
The internet went to shit when third worlders and rural morons got access to it.
>atheism on the rise is a is a bad thing
Rural retards are probably what caused the spike in christfagging in recent years, niggas are now spouting arguments that were a laughing stock 10 years ago already.
selfies go on /soc/ user
you are mistaken sir, that is a picture of you, your mother gave it to me post-coitus.
Yas Forums became terrible way before 2016 you zoomer faggot.
This website has been dogshit for almost 10 years now.
I was born in 1987, got the internet in 1998, and started posting on forums in 2001. I'm nostalgic of my first three solo year, but I'm not that nostalgic about early 2000s message boards.
add jojo being an obscure fandom to being redditcore
It was never really obscure and bound to become big in the west eventually, in japan it's basically on the level of Dragon Ball.
I actually kinda think that older jojofags who thought they were the shit for discovering one of the biggest manga series ever were even more annoying, not to mention the amount of pretentious postering where people act as if it's some genius piece of writing.
>2016
This has to be bait, the internet is barely any different now than it was then. This is the most arbitrary "old internet good, new internet bad" post I've ever seen, at least 2011 fags have some kind of point because the internet was actually different back then
You are probably a teenager who has no memory before 2012. 2007 was the last great year for the internet (life in general really).
2012 onwards is when the internet was complete and irredeemable shit.
>actually good ecelebs
Debatable. The only good ones were the one hit wonders
Some of the biggest youtubers were openly saying nigger and faggot all the fucking time before 2016, now your carreer is fucking over if you do that and people act as if you're the worst person on earth.
There definitely was a massive seismic shift in the internet, normalfags flooded everything even more, which became unbearable when all of them got radicalized more and more towards political extremes on both sides and can't shut the fuck up about it.
the FANDOM was obscure, I never said the manga was. anything in shonen jump is mainstream and I was well aware of the legacy. actually the most annoying thing about fans back then was most of them were part 3 only posers who only knew about it from the game or the OVA. and we're uptight because we endured horseshit scans for most parts for lack of anything better because we genuinely loved the series and thought it needed exposure. 2014 was the sweet spot when the good quality scans were coming out but it wasn't that well known yet. I don't agree with it being dragon ball level, I'd say it's more like doctor who or star trek, people know about it because it's been around forever but the fans are awkward geeks. those fandoms have reddit audiences now too so what do you know.
