It could be possible that she just didn't learn any Math in high school. I scored a 134 on the Stanford-Binet when I was being tested for attention deficit disorders, at 21 and my SAT without the essay was a measly 1120, some years back. I scored about 30 IQ points higher than I estimated, honestly. As for my background, when I first entered community college, I legitimately did not know trigonometry or basic algebra.

I'm a field engineer now after graduating with a degree in EE. I don't know how the SAT looks now, but it wasn't much like an IQ test back then. If you're concerned, have her take one somehow.

It doesn't matter, math isn't an indicator for intelligence (to a certain extent) since you its just like playing the piano, you gotta learn it. I'm actually not even good at higher level math but I am very arithmetically inclined, I enjoy quick back of the envelope calculations wherever possible. She is totally inept at that stuff. And she was afraid to take an IQ test for fear of low score. I can see it happening, she gets frustrated and flustered very easily.

But at 19, she possesses more common sense about everyday life things than I do at 25. Her writing is also markedly better than mine at the same age. I guess I need to focus more on the good

I dropped out of HS and didn't know how fractions worked until I started taking classes at CC. Eventually took calc 3, vector calc, differential eq, and linear alg.

Unless I'm wrong, a perfect score in anything is 800. That would leave 250 points to spread between the other two.

As of a few years I ago (I know because I took it) the essay is no longer part of the cumulative score. Previously the SAT was out of 2400 points, with 800 each for reading, math, and the essay. Now it is out of 1600 points with 800 each for reading and math. The essay is optional and scored independently on a scale of 3-24, 3 being the lowest you can score. So getting a perfect score on the essay, i.e. a 24, has nothing to do with the cumulative 1600 point score that OP is referring to.

i wrote a 1660/2400 on the SAT which is painfully average but got a 175 on the LSAT which is 99th percentile

Holy shit dude we have the same score for the same reason! I was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD combined type. I just didn't like math at all and didn't expend much energy on it, if I didn't have ADD/ADHD I'm positive my score would have been much higher. Shoulda done the HW and studied more, calculus was the first math class I couldn't ignore and do well in. The discipline it takes to sit and do math it's fucked. But I need to try.
