i do. san for hosts and vm storage, nas+cloud for tiered backups. business data doesn't change much day-to-day so the deltas which need to sync out to the cloud for an 800gb daily backup might only be 10gb. obviously the initial sync takes forever, but it's pretty much smooth sailing from there.

oh for sure, it's no good for home users.
my main concern with using lto5 for home would be that your if backup spanned multiple tapes, it'd only take a fault with one of them to trash the entire backup.
of course you can mitigate by buying more tapes and keeping multiple backup sets
