It's not dirtiness. I climbed a mountain bare footed a few times, one time I did it in January and all the skin on my foot came off. Second time recently it wasnt as bad but there seemed to be a permanent discoloration on the part of the skin that the mould is on now. I thought it was just dirt stuck under the skin for a while but I saw it more clearly today. Here's a photo of my foot from the first climb.

Plantar wart, caused by human papillomavirus infection. Multiple subtypes of the virus exist, though this is most commonly caused by HPV 1. Subtypes 16 and 18 are the scary ones that cause cervical cancer.

HPV is obviously contagious. Usually people get this subtype on their from walking around barefoot. I get the impression that you caught this after playing footsie with some cute boys.

Over the counter treatment includes salicylic acid, other topicals, and fucking duct taping, but plantar warts are stubborn. You may need to get this freezed off in an office with liquid nitrogen if it persists.

Targeted destructive therapy is thought to work by killing developed skin cells infected with HPV. This can be done with many tools, like liquid nitrogen or silver nitrate. I've never heard of an extinguished match being used before, but it would functionally have the same mechanism of action as liquid nitrogen. I wouldn't be surprised if it works well.

I don't think you would easily be able to cause infection so long as you don't burn through the keratotic tissue. However, the cosmetic result would probably be worse, you'll likely need more attempts to treat, and it might hurt more.
