Some people get into such a rut, or such an inability to execute their will, that even a meaningless self improvement chart, or the Art of Manliness 30 Days to a Better Man, can provide them with enough inertia to escape their state of decay.
It's not about snobbishly trying to find the best possible listicle to follow right away, it's about picking one, sticking to it, and eventually moving on to better ones, with more pertinent challenges to your situations.
So yeah, that's about it. It's better than nothing, and it's better than paralysis of the analysis.
