quarter squats have their use tho
If you want to get on disability they are great.

There's nothing wrong with leg pressing or quarter squatting, provided you
1. also squat properly
2. don't try to claim PRs on those (nobody cares and you're missing the point of the exercise)
>using machine after machine with low weights, no rest, high reps and zero intensity.
Found the npc
Can you tell me exactly what is wrong with either of them? Provided you use them properly instead of just to inflate your ego. Or do you just say that because you've seen people making fun of them? If you don't have a good answer, you're the npc
Define the intended use of a quarter squat and we can talk
Bench pressing at all
As suplementary, yes. Increase weight and do a couple of sets.
Shearing force on a fragile joint combined with limited muscular engagement makes for a stupid exercise.
First off, it has greater carryover to jumping, running and pretty much any athletic movement. I personally don't do them because I'm not an athlete, but if I cared about my sprint or vertical, you can be sure I'd train them.
Secondly, because of the partial range of motion, you can use it to overload in the same sense you'd use a pin bench, a block pull or anything with bands/chains (which overload the top part of the movement)
If you go straight down (because you can in the quarter squat), yeah, you can wreck some joints. But that's poor form. You don't squat with your back vertical, why would you quartersquat like that? No, bend over like you would on a squat and you'll have no issue. Unless you think squatting in general is bad for your knees.
Now, I will give you that if you jump straight to whatever weight you can do for quarter reps, you might fuck some shit up because your joints and ligaments are simply not used to that kind of weight. But again, that's missing the point of the exercise. If you work up to that weight over the period of a few months, then you can finally use it properly as an accessory, with its own entry for progression
There was an athlete training at my gym who was competing in the olympics in the triple jump event. He did a lot of quarter squats.
Its called suicide grip, and you dont need clips if you have decent experience and if youre training with a friend and you add/remove weight after every set. Even when youre alone you dont wanna use clips on the bench, as its easier to bail without clips
>450lbs bench boy
Never seen quarter squats irl, only seen half squats. It makes sense for some people with incredibly shitty mobility issues. Better than not squatting at all.
The gym isnt a powerlifting meet anyways, nobody gives a fuck if you can squat 225 or 600lbs. Doesnt really matter.
Leg press !machine! is actually quite decent for beginners or women, as its just a leg press with less weight. Nothing wrong with using that, better than dodging leg work all together.
Depends on the exercise you do, but for the vast majority of the time its nothing wrong with checking your phone inbetween sets. Lets say youre doing smolov squat program between week 9-12. Are you just going to stare at the wall or the floor for the next 5 minutes or so? Of course not. Just check instagram for memes or talk to your friends in the group chat or whatever. Quite obvious that youre not strong.
>Using clips on the bench
You might be autistic
>clips on bench
lol wat
How the fuck you use a smith machine for pullups, are you 4’0 tall?
Triple jump requires different muscles than any other activity
L-sit pull-ups.
Someone as fat as you wouldn't have considered this a possibility. Understandable.
It has already been proven that full ROM squats are more beneficial than reduced ROM squats in terms of strength, power, hypertrophy, and joint health.
It's also been proven that quartersquats have better carryover to running and jumping
>Not needing to clip yourself to the bench to avoid lift off from the sheer explosive force of your pecs

have fun with your knee problems bro
see
The powerlifting squat is a half squat
>literally shows that the increase in force is due to compressive force
That pic shows the opposite of what you think it does. Compressive forces are protective against osteoarthritis
>bench pressing without clips
anyone who benches with clips is an absolute fucking retard
1) the weights dont fucking slide off the bar
2)if you need to dump the weight, you won't be able to
>taking pre-workout booster
i dont understand how reducing quad activity and putting that force on your joints is good for them, you have a source for this?
if you quarter squat..... Get the FUCK out of the squat rack and into a leg press
squatting is literally ONLY good for building and DEMONSTRATING your strength
NOBODY cares how much you faggots quarter squat. if you're looking to strictly build muscle, sit your ass down on something seated
hahaha who benches with clips?
Have fun with your garbage form bro
>Gets on the rower
>Cranks the damper setting to 10
I seriously hope you don't do this Yas Forums. I honestly don't know why my gym doesn't put a note on the rower telling people to not do that. The have instructions on pretty much every other piece of equipment.
But I am doing this when going for a few minutes of full power.
What's wrong with that?
>450 bench
>can't read
>does curls often but never increases the weight
I know that professional rowers will use a 5 or 6 setting. But you're assuming that I give a fuck about what professional rowers do. I want a 5 minute full body warm up. I want to exert myself for 5 minutes, boost blood-flow and muscle temp, and then go lift some fucking iron. I don't even own a rowboat.
ill take "garbage" form and like 5-10% less gains over not being able to walk after im 50-60 any day of the week
>bench pressing with clips
you're joking right?
Always put it on 10 and will continue to do so.
Curls
My uni gym had a shitty, bent bar. Not a lot but enough that after a few reps, the weight started sliding. At that time I had to use clips, do the roll of shame on failure and only max out with a spotter. But otherwise there's no reason to use clips on a barbell, unless you lift so much the sheer weight of it bends the bar
>thumb grip
wait what
I keep my thumbs extended(along the bar) because its comfy
Most recent peer-reviewed research says otherwise. GTFO quarter squatter. You have no right to use the squat racks/power cages
Imagine putting rowing oars into molasses and you jerk back at hard and fast as you can. Not only will you hardly go anywhere but you can easily hurt yourself. You're not stronger, building more muscle or better cardio for rowing at 10, you're just making yourself a lot less efficient and increasing your risk of injury. There's pretty much zero benefit.
>stop doing what I don't like
>believes npc lift
you're never gonna make it.
>>bench pressing without thumb grip and clips
Why would you bench with clips? That's dangerous if you're lifting heavy, you got no way of removing the weight away, even if your spotter fails. You obviously don't bench heavy shit.
Post it. Also
>I personally don't do them because I'm not an athlete
It's jumping and running, retard. I doubt you'll see a basketball player squatting atg but you will see them halfsquatting
By the way, I'm not defending dipshits who think they're tough shit for bobbing up and down an inch with 4pl8 on their back. If you think that, read the chain again
I thought "without" referred only to the grip, as in "pressing with suicide grip and with clips"
I fucking hate this dance, for some reason i just cant do it no matter how much i try
