/fat/ doctor's orders edition

>Who is /fat/ for?
For infinifats who want to better themselves through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication.
This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss

>What do I do first?
1. Read the Yas Forums sticky
liamrosen.com/fitness.html
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage
fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your BMI
nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm
4. Calculate your TDEE
sailrabbit.com/bmr/ (complex)
fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html (simple)
5. Plan your weight loss week by week
losertown.org/eats/cal.php
6. Track your calories and macros with MyFitnessPal or Cronometer. Don't listen to memes, either of these are fine based on what you need
myfitnesspal.com (better for packaged food)
cronometer.com (better for generic food/tracking micronutrients)

>Now what do I do?
Count calories, all of them.
Calculate your TDEE at sedentary
Buy scales, be accurate in your measurements
Learn how to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 1g per lb of goal body weight.
Do cardio. Even if its just walking, cardio will improve your health which is sorely needed. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can off set the risks.
Lift weights. This will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat. You don't want this.
Post your height/weight/screenshot of MFP/Cronometer food log when asking for advice

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calorie count
Eat processed foods, or at least try to avoid if possible
Drink your calories. Alcohol, soda, hot chocolate, fancy starbucks shit. forget it.
Freak out over a stall in weight loss. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself.
Be a retard.

Did any of you start your weightloss journey because your doctor told you so? Did your obesity cause any serious medical problems? If you already lost your weight did it help with your medical condition?

What are health benefits from going from overweight to normal bmi?

I was 300 at the start of the year. I'm now at 268.... The progress is slow, but that's okay.

I've got my breakfast + lunch down to 1000 calories total in a livable way. This leaves me room for about 1000 calories for dinner (if I even want that much). My maintenance calories are (allegedly) 2800..... so I'm cutting about 800 to 1000 calories a day. I'm doing okay with this. There's no cardio or working out... yet. I've cut out 99% of dairy, carbs (breads, pasta, etc), and nearly all sugar.... and replaced it with meat of all kinds. Even if I never lost any weight, I like my new diet better than my old one.

Good job bro! I was 330 last may and I've gotten down to 279! We're all gonna make it!

Not me personally, but my Mom had a heart attack in her 40's, and that scared me into dumping weight

>Did any of you start your weightloss journey because your doctor told you so?
No
>Did your obesity cause any serious medical problems?
No, my blood tests always came back great, my blood pressure was always great, I never had any directly related issues.
>If you already lost your weight did it help with your medical condition
50/50 some aspects got better, some got worse

Less risk of cardiovascular issues. Im terrified of having a stroke or heart attack.

Health improvements across the board, including shitty little nuisance diseases like asthma or psoriasis.
Plus, you'll be able to lay on your side without it hurting.

I'm 219 lbs down from 229 not long ago. On a 1,500 calorie diet, I don't even exercise. Calorie count is all that matters.

Sort of/no. I donate plateletes, and they take your blood pressure before hand. Mine was always normal. One time I went and it was waaaaay high for no apparent reason. Same the next time. Went to doctor to check it out, turns out I have high blood pressure, which if you know anything is a death sentence, just slower than most. Runs in the family, as my mom always had high BP throughout her life.
Did your obesity cause any serious medical problems?
Turns out yes- see below
If you already lost your weight did it help with your medical condition?
I lost about 35lbs so far and my bp is back in the normal range.
More importantly, my mom was overweight/obese most of her life, and was on bp medication, because hers was always high.
She recently lost 40lbs (proud of her) and she has, for the first time in like 15 years, gone off of bp medication and her bp is completely normal.

Turns out its genetic to the point where if we get even slightly overweight our bp skyrockets where it takes normal people a little bit longer, but by being fit we don't have to worry about our blood pressure at all.

I have a feeling this is how most people are with genetically high blood pressure (not everyone of course, one of my friends in her 20s is a petite, 100lb person and is pretty fit, eats well, and she's on bp medication because her genetics are more fucked than mine)

i lost 24 lbs in 2 years,is that a good time?
i wasn't obese just overweight and i didnt do any exercise

damn, it's 4:19 pm and i've 400kcal left, didn't know that rice has that many calories

Confess at a distance user

Whenever someone asks how much weight I lost I always tell them 2kg more than I really did. That pushes me to actually achieve that to maintain the masquerade, then I lie again about the next 2kg so the cycle begins anew

Posted this in last thread but it got archived not sure if anyone saw it
3 days ago i worked out all day from the moment i woke up to the time i went to sleep (with the intention of working out like this everyday)
Slept thru the next day and didn't feel like working out the next 2 days
I woke up today feeling smaller
Looked in the mirror and while im not at my goal i do look noticeably skinnier too
Im going to workout after posting this
I probably wouldnt have done this if it wasnt for social distancing
Thanks corona chan!

Obesity made me become sterile. My adrenal glands is the only thing producing testosterone anymore, my fat distribution also got similar to a woman.

I don't know if I will recover, it has been a year and I've only lost 30kg so far, I feel very weak, almost like even the trt isn't doing anything at all, absolutely no sign of getting better. It's like my body forgot how to use it

So its true that fat cells store estrogen?

I need some advice /fat/
My obese roommate has relapsed hard and is in freefall
They have eaten literally 5 tubs of icecream since Wednesday. Not to mention at least a box of Auntie Anne's cheese pretzel dogs, a box of taquitos, and honestly I don't know what else. Even as I write this, there are 5 tubs of icecream in the freezer they ran to the store and bought.
I've just about given up on helping them.
And its not that I don't understand either. I'm ex-fat, and so is everyone else in the house who lives with us.
Any advice /fat/?

Glad you're so motivated but working out all day every day is unsustainable, as you've probably now deduced
Make it be a reasonable amount at a reasonable frequency for best results

>roommate
Who cares? Once you move elsewhere, you'll likely never see him again.

I buy my faggot, normie, stoner roommates oreos and cookies and shit to ruin their gains. Meanwhile I can crank out a 30 pushup set.

can't wait

I feel invested because they call me their best friend, and I've helped them for the last year get out of the 300s...
We did workouts together, diets, weigh-ins, cooking, even doctor visits...
But now as soon as I'm too busy to do everything with them, they just are letting all the progress go.
I guess it's hard to accept some people just aren't going to make it and its hard to watch someone self destruct so spectacularly.

goddamn everytime I eat lately I feel nauseous
could barely get down the eggs and kimchi this morning. I love eggs and kimchi. I feel better than ever on a diet, but my stomach is like "fuck you". why is my gut being a bitch?

Watching it can be tough, but this person won't be in your life forever. I'm 5 years out of school and only keep in touch with 2 of my 12 different college roommates.

are you cutting hard? ever made "penalties" for eating too much or something like that?

All my roommates have been miserable normies so count yourself lucky you found one who's not entirely a miserable bastard.

no, not really. I eat TDEE - (500 to 1000) cals per day. so roughly 2500 cals per day.
>penalties
no, I just accept that I fucked up and move on

huh, idk then, it's often a sign of bulimia that people get sometimes get while being too hardcore about the diet
i'd go to a doctor anyway if this keeps up because it can be something serious

man i was like 250 at my heaviest and it was uncomfortable as fuck...can't imagine what 300+ would be like...

I've been eating at a caloric deficit for almost a month now and haven't managed to lose any weight nor do I look like I've lost any actual fat. Is there something I'm missing or am I just supposed to be fat.

I'm done on my calories at its 6.30pm.
I'm good and clean every day up to about 9pm just before bed and I get hunger pangs nearly every single fuckin night and have to use all my willpower to stop myself going to eat even just a little bit. It's becoming really hard and I usually have to do mediatation and force myself to sleep just to stop myself most nights. It's not really an efficient use of my evenings.

What can I do, /fat/ bros, to get away from these late night cravings?

height, weight and daily calorie intake? Did you do the most retarded thing most people do when starting out and counted exercising when calculating your daily calorie intake?

5'11 193lbs keeping it at 1630 a day down from ~2500. Yes I'm a retard that was told to count exercise.

Not gonna lie, it was miserable. I could barely get around without being out of breath. I had problems lifting 40lbs of cat litter because I also have a bad back. That was my wake up call. Everything is so much easier to do now. What I can't imagine is being 600+ getting around. 300+ nearly killed me.

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOIIEEEEEEEEEE

put your info in here losertown.org/eats/cal.php

leave "How active are you?" at "sedentary couch potato". Eat 500 calories less than that and you WILL lose 1lb per week. You absolutely must measure your food and calculate your calories correctly if you want to get results. Cut sugar and carbs as much as you are comfortable with and strive for at least 50+ grams of protein per day, ideally more if you're somewhat active or workout frequently.

If you stay consistent and weigh yourself weekly on the same day/same time you should see a downward trend with some variance(~0-15lbs) depending on water weight etc. It may take months of consistency before you start notice changes in the mirror.

A l w a y s c a l c u l a t e a t s e d e n t a r y

This basically tells me to stay at the same deficit I'm already at and I've been very precise about counting. Should I assume my sugar and carb intake is the problem if that's the case?

>Haven't had a drink in a week
>Lose 4 pounds
>Had a drink last night
>Hated it and don't want it any more

I'm gonna make it bros

>parents are getting divorced
>they're going to fight and try to get me to pick sides even though im an adult finishing up my last semester of school
>family has been only semi-functional forever so ive known this would be the end since i was a kid
What makes adults turn into children? I honestly don't really care because it's not like I'm a kid and my whole world is being torn apart or anything, but I'm about to graduate and move out and it's not exactly convenient to me. Couldn't they just stick it out, show up to the ceremony, and pretend to be happy for one night like they usually do?

Attached: 154231.jpg (482x427, 74.8K)

man this might sound wrong but i'm glad that the quarantine kicked in
finally had the time to sort out my diet
finally have the time to exercise
lost 7 kg in ~4 weeks

This. My class schedule is so fucking easy to exercise around. Normally I'm supposed to be in clinical from 7AM-4PM on Fridays, but today we all just did independent work online. I did my work in like an hour and got my workout in before we met up again.

Did a few super sets on my chest and back earlier today
But I'm not satisfied so maybe after i eat I'll do more dumbell workouts and some boxing drills

The reason i tried it was because i was thinking like ancient humans were active all day so why not i?
And i also heard that boxers were well conditioned since they also worked out a lot

Maybe a cheat day everyweek would help them stay on track
I do not think super strict eating is gonna be good for you

Quarantine helped me out too. Social eating was triggering binges for me and since gaining complete control over when and what I eat, I haven't binged at all.

I ate around 1800 calories today, no more than 2000. This is sustainable for me, and I weigh 264lbs at 6ft. Is this a good deficit?

That genuinely sucks, user. No one should have to go through their parents' divorce. You can have a talk with them regarding your graduation ceremony, often times the parents will unite over their differences for the sake of their child. Or at least I hope so, it doesn't sound like they hate each other really badly.
I hope life gets better for you!

does it matter whether caloric deficit is stable?
i normally eat around 1700 but on some training days i really struggle at it, would the additional 100 or 200 kcal do much?
TDEE at 2000kcal

drink of what?

are you underaged or just retarded

He wants to know if you (or that user) had a bourbon, or a vodka, or something else. He's not asking if he had an RC Cola or a Rockstar.

I'm with you bro, this is my exact problem.
If you give into it, its just going to get worse. Be strong and think about how good it feels to wake up with a flat stomach.
For me, going to bed earlier helps. If there is a place in the house you tend to snack in, avoid that area. For example, I prepare myself so that I will not need to go near the kitchen for any reason once its late.

Wasn't be, but I was a beer guy

>Doctor
No. I started once I moved out and bought my own place. I felt something snap inside of me.
>Medical problems
I have a small hole in my heart that is genetic. I can become easily light headed after cardio because of shitty blood oxygenation, so although weight wasn't the cause, being fat did not help.
>Lost weight
Yeah, I've made it within a few lbs of my original high school weight before I got fat. I do think it probably helped, as I can be more active without feeling like I'm dying lol. It also really improved my skin (no acne, glowy healthy skin) and hair (stronger, shiny but less oily).
Not sure if others have experienced skin/hair gains too?

No
Just high blood pressure
Not really.

parents are just two randoms that had sex, so nothing special. lower you expectations, don't pretend too much from them and you will never be disappointed again.

I caught T2D at 22 years old but ultimately I'm doing this to get pussy lmao. On a good note my blood sugar is in the normal non-diabetic ranges due to lifting and dieting.

Good shit & keep it up. I was also 300 in August and I'm now 235. It's a slow grind.

I didn't workout for 3 days straight until Today.

Eat vegetables/fruits or maybe some nuts.

Attached: 1584677538256.png (700x690, 386.15K)

Any good bicep resistance band exercises? Gym's closed and they were all I can afford.

I am no biologist, all I know are the consequences of my actions and inaction.

It's a big slap in the face and really makes you think twice.
