incredibly based.

Taking cold showers every morning has improved my life drastically.

The most based

I used to think cold showers were dumb and saw no purpose in them. I then learned up on Wim Hof and their benefit to the immune system n shiet and have been doing them for months and have been doing ice baths for about a month now.

I'm never going back. Every aspect of my life has improved and this is the only time I have ever been able to stick to nofap, was with cold showers. It reallys gives you that mental strengh to achieve anything.

How does one learn the wim hof breathing ?

App, youtube, just google it. But honestly bro just start taking cold showers. It's just a shower.

How do you get clean in a cold shower?

Always found it hard af to soap myself up in one

How so?

It’s not different than soaping up in a hot shower. I’ve never had trouble with it

It’s bullshit.

I'm still unfamiliar with him but his 11 minute breathing exercise video definitely works and surprised me. I need to watch more of his stuff.

I tried it out right after the JRE episode came out.

Did 2 rounds, 30 deep breaths, held my breath, exhaled, held the exhale.

Did a backflip for the first time ever. Did another one just to prove it wasn't a fluke

Never did either the breathing or the backflips ever again.

go luke warm to clean then go cold

wait for how long haven't you been breathing?

I do slightly cold then slowly turn it all the way cold. By the end of the shower I am at max cold and I hold it for half a minute.

Dude has an identical twin who can't nearly do the same shit.
There's got to be something he's doing right.

Looking on YouTube and everyone doing videos about it seems to be a total cunt

Like the kind of people who hole up in Bali to start their Life Coach/Yoga Instructor business, those people

Also they all seem to have done it for like 1-3 weeks, no long term people

Wim himself kind of sounds like the Wellness equivalent of a raving homeless man on Rogan, but I haven't listened to all of it yet

Seems to tout asthma benefits so I'm willing to give it a try though. Working in a dusty building a few years back triggered a lot of sinus issues and asthma that have been a pain in the ass, got the sinuses sorted out (touch wood) but the asthma is still there a bit

For any anons who've done it, how long would you recommend to try it to see if it works? When do noticeable results begin to kick in?

australian survivor winner this year used it

Wanting the results of working out without working out

shut the fuck up

It's just lack of oxygen to your brain induced by hyperventilating so you get a high and feel like it's doing something.

I think you should come up with your own methods instead of being such a follower.

Go cry to janny about it lel

Breathing too deep and too much is bad for the brain no ? hyperventilation ?
got tips to handle it ? i tried for a month but after 10 days i just didnt want to shower at all

I think there's another guy who's done more research on it, apparently his book is helpful to avoid overoxygenating

But I'd imagine with the amount you're doing per day (90 breath) it's probably not a big impact, surely even going for a run would cause much more breathing than that

>going for a run would cause much more breathing than that
Yeah but it's natural and you don't actively focus on breathing more, you just breathe more because your body needs the additional oxygen

I did cold showers at my swimming hall and breathing at night till 2 months ago. But then I started coughing and I think I had this chynse coughing biohazard weapon virus early. Had fever. Mostly symptoms at my lungs. Still now 2 months later they a little bit fucked and slimmy. Furthermore I cannot go to swimming hall because they all closed

Am I supposed to meditate on top of the breathing exercises?

How do you meditate ?

haven't met a single person that does this for real, the only people I see that follow this trash are anonymous literal who's and people with something to sell

absolute joke and a waste of time

Sitting with my eyes closed focusing on my breath for over ten minutes at a time

Once the weather gets warmer to like 15 Celsius, I'm gonna start doing cold showers again. It feels great as long as you don't have to step out to a cold fucking floor. The apartment's floor stays cold during the whole winter. Fuck having no floor heating.

You visualize the breathing with the air entering your lungs or you just focus on the task "breathing".
How do you deal with the parasite thoughts ?

I'm not the biggest expert on meditating so take this with a grain of salt. Sorta focus on both, like the feeling of air entering and the expansion of the diaphragm ect. Like the physical aspect.
For the thoughts my best advice is to realize when they occur, ignore them and return to your breathing. Realize that these thoughts are natural and instead of trying to control them just sorta let them come and go without focusing on them.

Ever since I took an in person course, I've been blown away by the benefits I was able to reap from breathing and cold exposure. I've been practicing the Wim Hof Method for almost a year now and the benefits have been outstanding. Some of them are anecdotal, but there are some guaranteed benefits to incorporating the WHM into your life. The three big ones being a reduction of stress and anxiety, a heightened immune system, and better physical performance.

To get the most out of it, you need to breathe as well as engage in cold exposure. Commitment is important too. You have to make this into a regular practice if you truly want to reap all the benefits the WHM has to offer.

I want to clarify some things on cold showers though. Depending on how cold the water is and how much time you spend there, it will affect the benefits you get. The warmer the shower, the longer you have to stay in the shower. The length of time you have to stay in the cold roughly doubles every 10 degrees (Fahrenheit.)

Here is a lowdown:

>30-39 degree cold shower = 2minutes
>40-49 degree cold shower = 4 minutes
>50-59 degree cold shower = 8 minutes

And so on and so on.

Once you do take a cold shower and do your protocol breathing, your immune system will be heightened above your baseline for a total of six days. Although there will be diminishing returns after the second day as your white blood count goes back to its baseline level.

He and people he has taught can activate their autonomic nervous system at will. This is rather unheard of since we've known about this part of the body, hence the name "autonomic nervous system." It's quite impressive.

> lack of oxygen to your brain induced by hyperventilating
Google respiratory alkalosis you fucking brainlet

Try sam harris waking up, he explai s it in a really nice way

I personally think "voluntary activation" is a bit overstated in this regard. It would basically be the same as saying you can activate your sweat glands at will by just going for a run.
Still a great article though.

When I do it i actively think "innnnnnnn" and "outtttttt" as im breathing. If you have any intrusive thoughts, think "ok that was cool, back to breathing though". The more you do it the less thoughts you get.

Focus on the sensations of breathing, the air going down into your lungs, your lungs expanding, slow rise of the chest, etc.

you've discovered his paradox, now he has died. Like Wile E. Coyote, he's now fallen to his death after running on air

Maybe if normal people didn't sweat when they ran, that would be more appropriate. Or, if normal people collapsed from exhausting from running in extremely high temperatures and these people could sweat more than the normal person.

fag

I think my comparison still holds up. If you read the article they basically say that you can increase your adrenaline levels by hyperventilating. And adrenaline acts as an immunosuppressant. Now saying that you have voluntary control over your immune system would in my opinion be the same as saying you can control your sweat glands at will and then simply going for a run to prove it.

Especially since "normal" people do not hyperventilate when they are sick.

Doesn't holding your breath for long kill the brain cells?
After 10 seconds they start to die, is what I've heard.

Fatass cope

it sounds like the WHM is mostly cold showers / breathing / meditation. is there any sort of free guide on how to implement these things?

I think it's because every 3 minutes of breading you have 1 or more minutes of breath hold to use the excessive oxygen on your body.

>t.

>the brain cells
Your brain has quite a number of different cells. Your brain will not suffer from hypoxia if you hold your breath for 10 seconds.

helps my recovery. Do them in the sauna after i lift.

its about 6 minutes for brain damage

>lack of oxygen
>hyperventilation

How can somebody be that retarded

I use this video everyday. It’s awesome.

You sound like a salesman

I dont think a black person ever has/can meditate. It goes against their natural instincts, and they're a very instinctual species.

>Breathing too deep and too much is bad for the brain no ? hyperventilation
No, slow breaths are different to hyperventilation. Your met to hold for a couple of seconds after your breath in. I suggest practising yogic breathing.

Yogic breathing was founded by/for homosexuals. It's essentially lowering your oxygenic needs throughout the varicose tissues in your lower diaphragm so they can deep throat longer without needing air. So yeah good on that.

Is meditation vipassana good for depression/anxiety and ADHD ?

link the video

Yes. Whenever I notice the anxiety thoughts bubbling up (thanks to meditation), I just breather very deeply and hold my breath and it calms down before it takes a hold of me
