Anyone here zwift? I enter races everyday for my cardio makes me work hard and I don't even plan workouts.
No but ive always wanted to. Im still stuck on plebmode dumb turbo
How does it compare to outdoor rides?
Outdoors there's always an excuse not to go. I've used it almost every single day now, I find it super motivating and if you don't want to be competitive you just do the built in programs. I dropped money on wahoo smart trainer not sure how others would compare.
I'm kind of autistic so I enjoy the stats on screen etc
Bro I spent the last 5 years in my garage on my shitty turbo just starin at my power meter numbers on my bryton gps.
Do you have a separate power meter to compare the numbers?
Ty breh pink bike gang gang
What bike does He ride?
He is clearly a connoisseur, rides picrel.
Haha yeah i cycle
TREN DE FRANCE
don't get the wind with a turbo or hills.
I also find when I simulate a hill on the turbo I just crank the resistance up but in reality on a real hill I find it faster to just get on a lower gear and spin faster so its just not the same.
But wind is always the biggest difference. Go out in a strong wind and its a fight half the time until you get it behind you.
>Because fuck running.
B-BUT I'M A TRIATHLETE!!!!
Triathlon is based. Just running can fuck off.
that and the weak bones that come with it
Ye, I am just thinking of terrain simulation. I suppose its always gonna be better than a dumb turbo
I don't even disagree desu, lel. Running is by far the worst part of tri training, and i will never be good at it. Atleast i can compensate by being strong on the bike and mog the fuck out of triathletes who neglected the bike part.
Most annoying thing with a Tri I find is that I'm a rather strong swimmer.
So many Triathletes are so shit at swimming. Was hoping to try an olympic this year since it has a longer swimming section but looking like it wont be on the table this year.
ahem,
FUCK RUNNING
and FUCK COOFERS
also ramp test or 20 min power?
Bike part is where you can make up the most time afaik. Ive been wanting to do a tri for a while, but at around a 7-7:20 min mile for anything over 5 in running and a shit tier swimmer.
I enjoy ramp tests way more personally, a 20 minute test relies heavily on your concentration, which was never my strong suit.
Same but after I feel like my ramp FTP is overshot especially when doing zwift training post new FTP
What are some good goals to set as an amateur cyclist? I'm new to the sport, but it's hard to stay motivated without training for a competition or something like that.
I dont think that it can replace a 20 minute test, but if done in a lab like I had a couple times, you can find out your MAP and VO2MAX which is a better metric than what you made yourself do for 20 minutes on a certain day with a certain level of rest desu.
post FTP
Then train for a competition. I know how you feel cause since I made a big decision last year Ive not trained until a month ago. It doesnt look like there is gonna be much for amateur things this season, but there are things like Zwift that can provide a no contact competition, and smart trainers have become far more affordable than just a couple years ago. And on the chance things do go well, there very well could be competitions this summer.
>that fat boomer and his fat titted wife that bike past you and say "get a bike dude"
I stared at his wife's milkers sooooo hard, no way she is gonna bike with his bet ass again. Enjoy your fat wife lol.
based and redpilled
There's a 300km ride being held every year in my country, been thinking about signing up. Got 3 months to train for it, and i'm already fairly fit. But 300km sounds grueling.
Well then you know what to do my man, get the fuck out there and RIDE.
I would do 1-2 long (100km+, assuming you are fit enough right off the hop) rides a week with some shorter tempo driven things thrown in between, and dont skimp on interval sessions either. Dial your nutrition in and count the fucking minutes till the day of reckoning.
I'll do it man. Hopefully corona wont shut the event down.
Even if it does do the route anyway. As long as you complete your goal nothing else matters and you can use it as fuel.
are you ok bro
Yes its just a slight COOF
What's a respectable FTP for a beginner or amateur?
Its hard to say man, the only time I did a legit 20 minute test I got something like 250w FTP, 5 years into riding and 3 into racing. My max aerobic was 429w and had a VO2max of 63.9ml.min.kg.
I would say that anything above 200 is good, but it depends so much on concentration that you need to do the tests regularly.
what's your weight chief?
The soi of exercise
At the time I was 73kg
>Fixed gear bike
>Brakes front and rear
I would have to agree with you there
(COOOOOF)
Honestly I have no idea if thats any good, I was the only person I knew that raced and was too autistic to make cycling friends.
No seperate power meter I just stare at my watts and if someone is trying to drop me haha. Before this I would just stare at the town on my treadmill.
A goal to set would be to hit 6watt per kg for 20 min power
That would put you at damn near top of the foodchain, but a good target nonetheless.
It is achievable but the problem is you cannot hold that form year round.
>The soi of exercise
Imagine being this wrong.
>doesn't get a bike fitting
Hi poor fellow, sorry about your back and your wallet
you gotta stretch. start with the basics: lunges, touching your toes, hanging
3 sets of 1 minute stretch with 1 minute rest between each set
Today’s workout was relatively fun for me. Am a decent triathlete but really trying to use this time of no swimming or lifting to get my ftp up. Sitting at 4w/kg right now, I think I can get it to 4.6 within the next three months, especially with losing some weight
The ftp is honestly not super impressive at ~3.4 w/kg. But your vo2max is really really good.. You might be lacking the muscle strength relative to your aerobic engine
The soi of exercises.
My main issue was that I lacked concentration for the whole 20 min test, and I only did it once with no target to beat
imagine not cycling 30 minutes a day lmao ngmi in life
>Because fuck running
No, fuck you, fatass
Yeah that makes a lot of sense, you'd probably be able to get a much higher value. What category racer are you?
Not raced in 1.5 years now (yoikes) but my dumbass never made it past lmaocat3, nearly making it to cat 2 in 2 seperate seasons.
I plan on coming back stronger than ever though and maybe even smarter, so hopefully will be able to get cat 2+
i love cycling, but i get such fucking bad lower back pain it ruins it for me, I've done everything, absolutely fucking everything to try and fix it.
*rows away from you*
Bikefit or posture man, other than that just fuckin yoga and strengthen your back.
Triathletes are turbo-dweebs who can only TT and are mediocre at even that.
Got a retul bike fit, 180cm on a 54cm frame. Done pilates, done yoga, lifting 3 years. Been to a physio, been to a chiro.
Rowings fucking cool too, just not as fast
Also, fuck bodies of water, shits freaky-deaky
depends on height and weight
in terms of w/kg 2 - 3 for a beginner is decent
Sorry user it was just not meant to be it seems. You tried other disciplines than road? Being more mobile on the bike keeps me more comfortable, so MTB could be an thing.
But TT is fucking hard, I like it myself. I also know a tritard who is insanely strong, but he is an olympian.
I transitioned from mtb as a teen to road, adults who mtb are cucks. I even get back pain commuting to uni which is like a 20min spin so I don't think it'd make a difference anyway.
Pain hasn't stopped me from cycling, I just have to take my hands off the bars and stretch every now and then, or get off the bike. But it's a shame, I'll never race. My dad is a boomer who thinks my pain doesn't exist and he's got calves bigger than most people's quads, he was a semi-pro in his prime so it just sucks to let him down.
your seat may be too high or too low
your stem may be too low for your flexibility
try adjusting those
I'm flexible enough, was tested while bike fitting and at physio. Can easily put my palms flat on the floor with legs straight.
